Disappointing Stay at Ramada Nanaimo
I recently stayed at the Ramada Nanaimo, and unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience that did not justify the nearly $300 price tag.
First and foremost, our room was filthy. We found a coin, a crayon, chunks of wood, and a chocolate on the floor – clear evidence that it hadn't been properly cleaned. It was disgusting and unacceptable. It made us question whether the room had been cleaned at all before we arrived.
Right from arrival, this hotel was unwelcoming the entire reception desk was covered in plexiglass, making us feel like we were in a high-crime area. It was a sight that did nothing to reassure us about the safety of the hotel or its surroundings.
The breakfast offered was lackluster, consisting entirely of white bread and sugary items. There was a complete absence of healthier options outside of apples and bananas, which was quite frustrating.
The gym was a joke. Without a fan, it was a hot box of discomfort, making it impossible to get any real exercise done. This is a basic amenity that any decent hotel should provide.
The cherry on top was the toilet, which was broken from the moment we checked in. It wouldn't flush, which we discovered after we had put our kids down to sleep, thus we couldn’t have someone come in to fix it. One would think when cleaning a toilet someone would notice it was broken. That is, if the toilet was cleaned at all. Which, based on the state of the room I am not sure it was.
In conclusion, our stay at Ramada Nanaimo was horrendous. The combination of dirty rooms, inadequate facilities, and an overall feeling of insecurity made it one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. I would strongly advise against staying here. Save your money and find somewhere else – anywhere...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at this location on Rosehill Drive in Nanaimo on many occasions. We have found the service to be good and the amenities the same. The day manager can be a tad confrontational, but I have generally found her to be somewhat amusing in a contradictory fashion. I think she really likes the rules she can enforce during this pandemic.
Our most recent visit to this location will likely be our last here. As others have noted, the online descriptions of the room and amenities are no longer relevant. There is no fine breakfast included in the room price. The gym is closed and housekeeping generally stays away from your room until you check out. They don’t ask you if you need more towels, coffee, shampoo or soap. They leave it to the guest to fend for themselves, often with a confrontational desk clerk on the day shift. The room prices are not lowered in the wake of this reduced service. They have actually gone up to their usual summer prices.
When I tried to book a room with a balcony online, I could not find any available rooms in the booking.com profiles. According to the day manager, the hotel management reserves the right to ‘parcel’ these rooms with patios out at their discretion, whatever that means?
As the world moves out of the restrictions of the pandemic, this Ramada chooses to limit their available services by keeping their breakfast room and gym closed, likely to save on costs for labour and free breakfasts. Restaurants and gyms are open everywhere else so why does this hotel keep these services closed?
We will be looking for accommodations in the future somewhere else and which provides higher levels of service in line with the relaxation of the worst of the pandemic restrictions which the Ramada still...
Read moreThis would be the Ramada Inn on, Terminal Ave Nanaimo BC. In the Autumn months as leaves fall from the trees people gather independent from one and another with a similar goal and to end their lives through an act of suicide. In fact I don't know what makes people choose this location but they do. The service here is very professional and confidential. Guest services will gladly assist patrons with luggages and each room is quite spacious as is peaceful. Lots of corporate visitors mix well with tourists as both visitor's seem to enjoy their stay very much so. Tons of free parking and appears much improvement has been made to the menus which was a well needed change for the Ramada Inn. I would safely grant three out of five stars to this establishment. The rooms are clean and tolerated temperate. The beds are cozy but hot. The lobby is friendly bright and the staff are terrific as they really go out if their way to ensure you're stay I'd say is entirely pleasant. The signs are clearly very visible and thus directions are not required. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for customer's use. Spacious guest areas including leather sofas which again I find very comforting. Lastly privacy and security are taken very seriously as staff protect you're interests. Movies are available for a price but awesome. moreover I wish there were more balconies but again. Four floors is pretty nice. Also there a Garden outside on the top floor for people to see and wander about. Bus stop is located just outside on Terminal Ave N and overall parties are much so welcoming. Security does check in and it's only Paladin security which id say is a mind you're own business type of...
