We booked a stay at Rangers Retreat because it had solid reviews across all platforms. We were expecting a nice place to stay, but what we were not expecting was how this bed and breakfast became the highlight of our trip.
We arrived to this absolutely charming home with beautiful decor and unique touches that gave the location so much character and charm. We were instantly greeted by Brian who gave us a lovely tour as well as recommendations to the best spots to visit tailored to our specific interests. Our room, like the rest of the house, was charming and clean, with attention and care to all the comforting details you would want in a room. We felt super comfortable, well taken care of and had a great nights sleep.
Next was the breakfast. Im a huge breakfast person, my fiance not so much. Brian and Jan prepared an extravagant feast daily, which included made fresh the morning of baked goods (croissants, muffins & breads), cheeses of all kinds, seasonal fruit, homemade jams & preserves (this was just the appetizer) and a daily main course (we had a frittata with four different kinds of mushrooms one day and eggs Benedict the next). I was blown away by how incredible everything was. My Fiancé who doesn’t like breakfast caved the first day and loved the experience so much, it was all she was looking forward to the next day. We were also very impressed and touched by how Brian and Jan were so attentive to my fiancé’s food allergies. They ensured to have top quality warm gluten free bread for her, lactose free cheeses and adapted all main course meals so she could enjoy. They really went out of their way to accommodate us, while making us feel it was no trouble at all. You can tell they’re the kinds of hosts that take pleasure in making their guests happy.
Lastly were the shared living spaces, the deck, pool and garden were stunning and insanely picturesque. This place is a REAL retreat. My fiancé and I both left feeling so relaxed, calm and happy.
Brian and Jan are great company, so much fun to be around and really go above and beyond to take care of their guests. We will definitely be back and you are missing out if you don’t stay there!
Also another bonus, they are walking distance from some stellar wineries (Jackson Triggs and Status) and their house is in a beautiful...
Read moreStayed at Ranger's Retreat for the first time last week. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. Brian and Jan were fantastic hosts who clearly know how to run an outstanding bed and breakfast. They were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. ||Their beautiful home is on a quiet street and the grounds are like a botanical garden oasis. They have thought of everything you want and could possibly need and may have perhaps forgotten at home. I'm amazed and delighted at the attention to detail. The pool has plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas and the nearby cabana has a washroom and steam room. The room itself (the twin) was very comfortable and the mattress was fabulous. I slept 8 hours both nights, which is not normally the case. We also enjoyed sitting on the shared balcony, which overlooks the backyard and pool. Coffee, tea and water was always available and there were always baked goods in the kitchen. ||The breakfast served by this team was unprecedented. The selection of fruits, cheeses and breads were excellent and were enough to fill us but then they provided a hot breakfast as well. No need for lunch. In addition to being great hosts, they were happy to provide us with suggestions on where to eat dinner.||Thank you. See...
Read moreThis was our fourth visit to Ranger’s Retreat and this time we brought two other neighbor/couples with us. Everyone has a fabulous time. As usual, Brian and Jan were the ultimate hosts. And their darling Scottie, Sarah is still the cutest dog in Canada.
Last month my sister and brother-in-law visited at our recommendation and they loved it as well. You’re close to Niagara Falls and I recommend a trip to the Butterfly Conservatory.
The grounds are impeccable and the inside is warm and inviting. The flowers throughout the property are quite beautiful.
A must is a lesson on running their coffee/expresso machine that can handle any type of coffee. The breakfast experience is absolutely wonderful. In addition to the many breads, jams, cheeses and main course there is enough food to feed anyone's special tastes. Brian's knowledge of cheese is astounding.
You can also ask for local dinner recommendations in the area and know you are getting the advice of a world class chef. There are plenty of wineries in the area for touring, taste testing and dining. You won't be disappointed staying here. A fabulous experience was had by all, and we...
