Beijing West — Restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Excellent quality Canadian-Chinese food, reasonably priced.

Opened recently; service is stretched thin and therefore not the best. Be prepared to wait a little bit; but not excessively much.

The food is cooked to order, with perfectly tender-crisp vegetables. No steam trays in the back they ladle the food from; clearly better quality than many local Canadian-Chinese places.

The dim sum is enormous and underpriced. Go now before economic reality kicks in and they raise the prices.

They do have chopsticks/black vinegar/chili oil, etc, if you ask. They are not at the table, and I have a feeling for 99% of the clientele this is not a concern, or even something they'd notice. A large chunk of the menu is in the process of being removed/replaced - I don't think it's a coincidence that it's the chunk which was least Westernized; gotta serve what sells in your community.

I was so excited to see a new restaurant in the town, a real Chinese takeaway .... fantastic!! Sadly we were really disappointed with our food. The ingredients (chicken & vegetables) were plentiful, however, we ordered Ginger Chicken & Satay chicken ... neither delivered on flavour, there was no peanut or peanut flavour in the satay, the "sauce" was thin, watery & bland. It tasted identical to the ginger chicken minus the huge chunks of inedible ginger .... Can't tell you how disappointed we were. We will certainly not be returning, it was a waste of money sadly. It’s honestly such a treat to finally have a Chinese restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake — it’s been way too long coming! We came in for lunch and ordered a bunch off the dim sum menu along with the house fried rice and noodles, and everything was so good.

The dumplings were fresh and flavourful, the rice had that perfect wok-char, and the noodles were super satisfying. You could tell everything was made with care — nothing greasy or overly salty, just really balanced and tasty.

Service was friendly, and the whole place had a nice, relaxed vibe. Can’t wait to come back and try more. So happy we finally have a spot like...
