Both my wife and I stayed for 3 nights at Grand Georgian Suite of Butler Creek House last week. The hosts Matt and Donna are incredible, kind, caring and knowledgeable folks who have made our stay extremely comfortable and warmly welcoming.||The Grand Georgian suite was large, king sized bed, well heated, had jacuzzi tub, large bathroom, plenty of closet space, provided fresh milk or real dairy cream for coffee, the coffee grinds for drip coffee maker, even little chocolates as part of welcome gift bag. The amenities were amazing, including premium shampoos and conditiners, ladies's sanitary wears, a mini fridge, various sized towels and premium crystal wine glasses, more than enough cutlery, kettle, teas etc etc etc etc..||The location is very quiet and the home backs into a creek forest. Suite decor is welcoming and warming with internationally sourced items from South East Asia. ||Donna and Matt provded every reasonable extra we have requested immediately.||The rates are very reasonable when compared to several other places in Niahara On The Lake.||The room has a Menu book of select handful of good rated restaurants and prices. This was very helpful to us.||Thank you Matt and Donna. We will certainly be back again to stay at your amazing, cozy place. Read moreWhat we’d hoped would be a great couples weekend away quickly turned into anything but. I get that it is a B&B, however, we wanted to check out the local spots for breakfast. We were never given the option of declining breakfast. When we weren’t downstairs at 9:00 (first time I’ve ever encountered a SET time for breakfast; in the past it’s been whenever you get up, that’s breakfast. After all, YOU are there on YOUR vacation on YOUR schedule), she called my phone; and when I didn’t answer, she came upstairs and knocked on our door until we answered. Meanwhile, we were just trying to sleep in a little bit. So when we didn’t attend breakfast the first morning, the owner was so distraught that she accosted my girlfriend in the driveway. As if that wasn’t enough, she then went into our room while we were gone and left us a lengthy note essentially telling us to leave. We both felt uncomfortable and threatened to the point that we left a night early. There’s no reason to do that to paying renters and absolutely no reason to not be able to let something that small go.
UPDATE: After posting this on Trip Advisor the owner must have gotten really spooked about getting a bad review because the following day a review was put up by someone who stayed the same weekend stating that “they were asked if they wanted breakfast” and that ones who said “no” were “given a to go care package.” That isn’t something you just write in a review. That’s something that someone has to tell you to write to save themselves. To reinforce the above, never ONCE were we ever asked if we wanted breakfast. Just to reiterate, they are bold face lying now - which is absolutely astonishing.
Other than that, the room was nice, bed wasn’t all that comfortable and the jacuzzi was an awesome perk. It would be 3-4 Stars but the owner just made it an absolutely miserable experience. Just a word of caution if you’re going to stay there, make it EXPLICITLY clear that you don’t want breakfast if that is your preference. Otherwise you may encounter the same issue we had.
P.S. she originally said that she took it as a shot at her that we didn’t go to breakfast and then that she wasn’t upset about the breakfast but that the other guests had to wait. She then writes in her note about messing up her “beautiful breakfast.” If you like to vacation on YOUR schedule and not have people nosing into your business, stay far away...
