The good: A well maintained and looked after property with 5 floors of rooms. Hallways are bright clean, fresh upbeat decor. Our room was clean well presented and maintained. Plenty of towels, nice crisp white bedding. Environmentally responsible, cost effective, 443ml / 15 fl. oz. soap dispenser bottles of hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel; all hung in conveniently accessible places; everybody wins. Surrounding grounds are neat, clean and well maintained. The parking lot out of the front door is well lit. I saw a guest with a small dog, so they likely allow pets, but please confirm. Very close to the airport, I saw guests get whisked off in a shuttle. There is an outdoor lounge area hidden away in the back left of the property with outdoor patio furniture; a great place to have a quiet coffee and to get some air. The property has an indoor pool that no one was using with plenty of towels and loungers. Breakfast was staffed by three ladies who made sure everything was topped off and available. Offerings were typical with commercially pre-prepared plain egg omelet / sausages etc. a limited selection of muffins, white and brown toast bread and the ubiquitous waffle machine. I did not see any fruit. Hours are 6:00 to 10:00 AM. There is a 24 hour coffee / tea station in the lobby just before the elevators.
There is a Lonestar chain TexMex restaurant at the end of the parking lot, a Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites, and Infinity Convention Centre as neighboring properties. The property provides easy access to the downtown core, Carleton University, parks and of course YOW Ottawa Airport.
The bad: To me, the primary objective of a hotel is to get a good nights rest after a long travel day, so you can be refreshed for your meeting, onward journey, or what have you. Unfortunately the bed I slept in had a very visible and distinctive sag ~2”. This is apparent especially on the edges. It left me with painful and unrestful sleep, tossing and turning, trying to find a flatter position and a sore, kinked back the following morning that would not go away for the rest of the day. A supportive mattress is very important and bowl shaped concave mattresses definitely does not fit this bill. I hope they assign someone to go through their mattress inventory on a regular basis and swap them out. Mattress manufacturers are skimping out these days and they just do not last long before they sag. Having said that, I have slept in numerous hotels that have supportive mattresses that were plush yet had firm support. I hope they find a good collection of these.
It would’ve been a lovely stay because everything else was well looked after. Check your beds when you arrive to make sure they are satisfactory to you.; something I usually do, but did not this time because we haven’t traveled for a while.

Terrible customer service! I had to pay $288 because they refused to match my second night stay price of $166. This hotel is impossible to reach by phone or booking messages. I tried multiple times!!
The short version: I was woken up at 1:40am to the next door room slamming their door and being extremely loud. Guess they decided to have a party with non-hotel guests. I thought I was in a small wooden hotel in the US on the interstate! I tried to contact the front desk but no one answered. I finally had to go downstairs to find someone and ended up asking the room next door to please be quiet! They were drinking and vaping (non smoking floor). Dave at the front desk tried to brush off my complaint. He just told me yeah because of the locks the doors are really loud. So I had to expound on the situation as the door was slammed multiple times and they were partying. He finally was going to come upstairs but the room guests left. No one bothered to address my complaint! I tried multiple avenues to be able to get compensation as for $300 I expect to get uninterrupted sleep. As it was I got little to no more sleep after 2am. I am pregnant and get chest pain if I don’t sleep. I was feeling VERY sick and was extremely upset. Finally one of the front desk staff told me to contact the sales manager and I still haven’t heard from her. The rooms also have vents in the bathroom which teansfers conversation and music from other rooms so it is VERY noisy. This hotel should cost no more than $80 a night. They are supposed to have the front doors locked from 12-6am for safety, however when the manager walked back in after being who knows where at 2am, the doors just opened right up without a key card from what I could see.
Breakfast was mostly gross. Scrambled eggs are rubbery and plastic. Juice is very acidic and the oatmeal was watery goop. I have never experienced such RUDE people who just shoved their way in front of you trying to get your food!!!
The only 2 staff I would even say should be working in hospitality is the maintenance man and the front desk agent with the beard. Both were VERY friendly and helpful. The rest were rather rude! After staying at multiple hotels/motels this trip I expected better out of a large name hotel especially for $300!!! Completely unacceptable! My mistake and I will be avoiding this hotel at all costs as well as any hampton inn in the future. I am not interested in this hotel chains poor service and failure to provide good...
Read moreTop notch service for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.
The receptionist was very polite and took immediate care of our registration. Quick check-in, no time lost. The room was very clean, very spacious, and well illuminated. The beds and sheets smelled nothing but clean, and the pillows and mattresses were comfy. There were no loud noises during the night, very quiet stay. The check-out process was also quite fast and simple, with no issues.
Room and Amenities:
Room: TV with plenty channels and enjoyable content for all ages. Mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker with available cups, coffee and consumables.
Bathroom: spacious and clean; shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion were available in well-size dispensers; plenty of clean towels and a hair dryer were also available.
Common areas: clean, without particular odors in corridors or elevator.
Heated indoor pool: the water was very clean and warm; the size of the pool was perfect for kids and adults; plenty of clean towels, chairs and loungers available, also lifebuoy rings; it was not overcrowded, less than 10 people at a time.
Breakfast: the dining area was very cozy and clean. The breakfast was all very tasty and offered many options to choose from, such as bread, bagels, waffles, muffins, cookies, eggs, ham, beans, butter, jam, peanut butter, fruits, cereals, milk, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, etc.; staff were continuously checking for missing items to restock. No complaints, and kids loved it.
Other amenities: Parking lot was big and spacious with plenty of spots available. Tea/coffee station available to guests. Vending machines available for drinks and/or ice.
The distance from downtown Ottawa was not a big problem and the roads were not overly congested at any time.
We had the chance to met some of the staff during our stay and they were very friendly all along. It was really a great overall experience.
Totally worth it and highly...
