The Royal Oak - Hunt Club at Uplands — Restaurant in Ottawa

Made the decision to try a new place and what a disappointment. My partner and I went in waited a bit to be greeted by a young lady that seemed to be very nice.. She said there was no seating and asked us to sit at the bar untill she could get us a table, absolutely not a problem.. Then the issues started... The bartender was busy playing grab a** with the waitress and sharing his tinder account and using completely unexceptional language with his buddy from the kitchen. We finally get a drink. As we sat at the bar waiting, we watched two other couples come in and were seated right away. Then as she passed us several times she realized she forgot about us and seated us. We had to cash out our bill at the bar as they wouldn't transfer it to the table, not a huge deal. Then as we sat at the table she seated another couple next to us. The waiter came to them in a couple minutes, got there drink orders and gave them menus. We sat in waiting, also noticing that the other two tables that were seated before us were now receiving there meals. Then the waiter came back to the couple next to us and took there food order. In the meantime our drinks were gone and we have not even received a menu. We got up from the table put our coats on, I made eye contact with the waiter, shook my head and they let us walk out. Off to Kelsey's where we had a great meal and a fantastic waitress. It's too bad because we were looking forward to a great experience.

• update 6 mothes later.. we were contacted by staff about this review they said they would look into it and get back to us.. still waiting and still have not been back.. almost corrected the mishap and got this deleted however... the attempt to make it look like you cared...

Not a good experience at all. Went for family dinner, and the restaurant was dead. Service was bad. No water for the table, no checking for drink refills. The drinks came underfilled, which isn't a good sign, and the restaurant continued to prove to be very stingy with their food. I ordered the $33 steak, and got what is shown in the attached picture. That steak is not even 1/2" thick, so it doesn't matter how you order it - it'll be well done. "Mushrooms" means a single mushroom cut into pieces. I voiced my problem before eating, and they offered a 50% discount to which I agreed and then ate the meal. When the bill came, they decided they didn't want to offer a 50% discount anymore and instead tried to offer a gift certificate! No thanks... I shouldn't have to fight for a discount I was promised up front. That's so shady.

Other meals at the table were very underwhelming. One wrap was all lettuce, and the noodle bowl was just microwaved mush. Staff was clearly fed up with us when we brought up issues, so I don't think they care at all if the customers are happy. Apps were good though.

It's not the same as it used to be. The whole family left disappointed. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner. It's not worth it and if you do have any issues, you won't be treated...

I don’t know what to say or where to start, Worst experience ever for me . My wife and I sat down around 9:50 They were a bit busy but it’s normal for a Friday night, We sat down on a table with glasses on from the recent clients Not a big deal , server cleaned the table and another one gave us menus and he was very nice , 20 minutes after and no one asked us for drinks or anything. and all 3 tables around us got served and got their drinks. A third employee showed up and asked us if someone took care of us and we said no , so he quickly grabbed drinks for us , Another 10 minutes employee #4 showed up to take the order and said to me ( I was send to here) so 4 Employees came to us in 45 minutes and no food been ordered yet!!!! I ordered Steak Salad and asked if i can add a steak so we can Share, The steak was sliced very thin and split into 2 plates ( I understand the size of the steak with a salad is small BUT NOT THAT SMALL) When we got the Salad the server asked us if we Eat Bacon Which is Very weird because there’s literally a pitcher of Beer in front of us !!!!! at the end i spoke with our server and she was trying to explain the situation but still a big...
