We recently got married and arranged (In January) for our room block to be booked here for the wedding at the end of July. We booked an executive suite for myself (Bride) from Friday- Monday, and a deluxe king room for the groom for the night before the wedding. I had stressed the importance of having a suite with a full kitchen as we had hair, makeup, photographers and wedding party getting ready the wedding day and needed the space to accomidate that many people for breakfast.
We got to the hotel after a long day of setting up and we were told there was no rooms booked for us at all, all weekend. I pulled up my phone with my emails from January of us booking but was told that there was nothing they could do because they're full this weekend due to a wedding. I said "I'm aware, I'm the bride."
We had called to confirm the room block and the rooms the week before, and make a reservation is the Chop Lounge for 30-40 people on Friday from 8-10 for drinks and appitizers under our wedding room block.(The management at Chop was great to deal with!) When I called to confirm there was no problems with the rooms.
After quite a bit of back and forth with the front deck and quite a bit of time they came back to us and said they had one basic room available. We decided to take it and figure out what to do after, at least we had a room for the night . We went to the room and it hadn't even been cleaned. There was no sheets on the bed, cans and garbage everywhere and mud. My uncle was helping us out with our luggage and I was trying to calm myself down and make a backup plan. He went back to the desk and im not sure what was said, but all of a sudden 2 suites became available, we just had to go pay for them.
With our room block we were supossed to receive a complimentary night and the special room rate provided for our other guests. They told us that it was past the deadline to receive the special rate and we would have to pay full price with no complimentary night. I told them I booked in January which was well before the June deadline and asked to speak to the person I booked with and was told that she was no longer with the hotel (or on leave, Im not sure) and I would have to speak with the new manager come check-out on Monday.
Over an hour and a half later we finally got into our rooms, but by this pont we had almost completely missed our own rehersal party at Chop.
My husband went down to checkout Monday morning and speak with a manager and ask for some compensation. She ended up giving us 1 complimentary night on 1 room and granting our room block rate which didn't really seem like enough as that was what was already agreed upon when we booked. She was very defensive and short and tried to convince him that it wasn't their fault that they didn't have rooms for us. No other compensation was offered, not even a free night.
The staff was unorganized, and we felt like we got treated poorly by everyone involved. We've stayed here before and loved it, but unfortunately this time was such a disaster we will not be returning. I'm not sure how many rooms we had booked in our block but it a was signifcant amount, maybe around 20. You'd think they would treat the bride and groom that was bringing all of these people in a little bit better and fix it....
Read moreI am actually surprised at the number of good reviews that have been written about this hotel, from what I saw this past weekend the hotel has a long way to go to be a 10! My family and I got in late, booked the King executive at $179 plus tax per night. This was intended to be a nice weekend for my family. The pool for my son and privacy for my partner and I. The next morning I had asked the front desk worker to please have housekeeping make the room up while we were out that day and apologized for making a mess but we needed towels, coffee and a new blanket for my son. She said ok. We left for the morning a got back at about 130pm. We went to the room to find 2 towels dropped off and a blanket but nothing else. They didn't even pick up the old stuff. My partner phoned down to the desk where he asked if housekeeping was coming still but was told we would not get housekeeping and that this was ok'd by his wife earlier that morning. I told my husband I had no such conversation with the lady. I went downstairs to speak to a manager where I found that this was the manager on duty. I tried to explain to her that we didnt have this conversation where I agreed to no housekeeping service. She continued to argue with me and tell me I was wrong. I found her a terrible manager and felt that with Covid ending and people spending money again that I would write a review about the way I was treated. I was so mad I went outside to smoke and when I came back in I found the housekeeper and the manager whispering and staring at me and my partner told me that they reluctantly were sending up housekeeping but we were to leave the room. Someone parked the cart outside our room but nobody returned to clean. I took a few coffee and towels off the cart, put the towels and blankets out in the hall and left it at that. After about 45min the manager phoned up to tell me sorry about the misunderstanding and that they would give us a discount on the room and a gift card to Dennys (which didn't mean much as my husband was sick from the Turkey dinner they fed him the night before). The manager kept apologizing for our "misunderstanding " which I found terribly interesting considering it wasn't at all a misunderstanding but blatant disrespectful behavior towards a customer paying over $200/night for their best room. I would have completely understood short-staffing and been very happy to get my own supplies but if that is the case then should the price of the room not reflect the lack of amenities?? Another complaint was that one if the night staff came up to help fix our TV and he smelled so bad that I had to air out the room after he left...does the manager not address this? How does he not know? I wrote an email to the GM and that was days ago...how is it that the GM does not reply tout-sweet to a complaint like this? Please find another place to spend your money folks, the price of these rooms, the lack of continental breakfast, amenities, a Luke warm hot tub and pool the size of a backyard pond is not worth the price you'll pay for this hotel. Spend a little more for a suite at the Travelodge and get a water slide, continental breakfast, and staff that don't argue with paying customers over a 10min restocking of the...
Read moreI'm giving 5 out of 5 because this is the quietest hotel I've ever stayed at, and I've been staying in hotels almost every day for almost fifteen years. Not a sound from Amy room near me. A wee bit of noise from the odd car with a loud muffler on the freeway (through the a/c unit) and a couple kids talking to their parents in the hallway. Not loudly either. So quiet, so great! The hotel was fully booked too, so not a slow weekend. There were a few li'l issues, but I'm just reaching, cuz that's what critics do 😁 I had a kitchen suite. Some previous guest had not cleaned the dishes and cookware well at all. In fact, I think they just wiped them, but didn't actually wash at all. I had to clean the dishes, cookware and cutlery, as they were greasy. The cookware was in good condition though. The faucet in the kitchen was more fashion over function. The lever was very stiff, making it hard to adjust pressure and temperature. Even if you tapped lightly, rather than push/pull....it didn't help. Not sure if this was an issue in similar rooms or just mine. And what's is the deal with housekeeping already leaving the glass plate off of the turntable in the microwave? Not just here, every hotel. If it's off just a bit and you don't notice, it makes a real racket when you start it. In this case, it was obvious that no effort was made to align it. Not sure why this is a thing. I still tipped the housekeeping staff. Not at much as I normally would, but have them a li'l bit I didn't address any of these issues with the Front desk, as they didn't cause me great grief, I'm just making observations. The room has plenty of plugs for your devices, both 120v and USB.The tv swivels, so it is easy to plug your laptop/tablet into HDMI if you like. The suite I stayed in had a separate shower and soaker tub. That nice deep tub may be nice to have after a cold winter day, but I dint use it. To use the elevators, you need to tap your card while also pushing the appropriate button for your floor number. A real PITA if your hands are full and completely unnecessary in my opinion. There are no sketchy people handing around because there's nothing at all around there. There is a lube station and a car wash across the street, a golf course next door, and that's about it. You even need to use your card to go down to the lobby, or another floor. You're surat in the building. This makes no sense to me. There are 2 restaurants in the property. A Chop steakhouse and a Denny's. The Internet speed was very good at all times, in spite of the packed house. The floors had some stains, but my socks stayed clean. I'll rate this property a Clean Sock Score of 1 (per my profile, lower score, the better) . I would stay here again if the...
