I tried to find an email address on your site, and there is none so here goes. My daughter and her friend had a reservation for last Friday night at your hotel. The girls, who are both deaf, misunderstood the check in time and arrived at your hotel around 2 am on Friday morning. Your staff did NOT try to help them in any way. Instead, they turned away two deaf girls, almost in the middle of the night, in a strange city they're visiting for the first time. The girls went across the street from your hotel and got a room there after explaining that you guys turned them away without trying to help them. I called your hotel sometime after 11 am on Friday morning and was told that the girls are not there yet. I asked the clerk who answered the phone, to please call me when they arrive, and she agreed. She did not mention that you guys turned them away, in the dark. The clerk that I spoke with called me around 2 pm on Friday, while struggling to speak English, although being cued by someone who spoke perfect English, she apologized for what they did to the girls, and she is so sorry blah blah blah. I explained to her that as a mother, I did not appreciate what they did to these two girls, and I need to speak with a Manager, cause as far as I am concerned, the staff needs to be trained how to handle unexpected situations. She assured me that she will speak with her Manger, who was probably the person standing beside her and cuing her what to say, and that her Manager would call me back. That was several days ago, and no phone call, and no email from the Manager. So is this Best Western Thunder Bay Crossroads Hotel on Arthur Street sorry for what they did to these two girls? The answer is definitely NO, and I am sure they will do it again if they got the chance. Even if the girls were not deaf, this is still not...
Read moreLove staying here. TB is a stop over to/from my work site. I stay here for 1-night twice a month, every second month. It’s always CLEAN. The rooms, linens, bathrooms have always been spotless. Toilet paper rolls always full. Rooms are spacious. Beds/pillows comfortable! Curtains close ALL THE WAY to block any light from outside. It’s walking distance to any needed places (coffee, pharmacy, etc), easy for uber to get to, close to the airport (without air plane noise), and they provide you with coffee, tea and soaps (face, body, make up remover towelettes, and shampoo/conditioner) in your room. The AM breakfast is also why I chose this place, always. Hot hearty ready to go first thing in the early AM. Or if you prefer continental. They’re both free. The staff are there, on-hand, professionally dressed, professional etiquette and helpful (and friendly) behaviour (who wants a grouchy staff at 630am? No one). The desk has a cab called and ready the morning of my departure. Only reason I didn’t give 5-star was they don’t have shuttle. It’s a long 20-30min wait at the airport just to get a cab to the hotel. I’m the only one of all my coworkers to stay here- they go elsewhere just for their shuttle service. My work won’t cover expense costs if I take an UberRide (it has to be a cab or shuttle). Oh, Best Western Crossroads also lets me store my food in their freezer overnight since I have a 2-day travel with food. Lastly, they’re not racist here and so far I’ve never been profiled. I feel safe here. No riff-raff in the hotel so I get a good night sleep everytime. Staff have not targeted me and have been very friendly (offering cab services, wake up call, asking if there’s anything else I need for my nights stay). I’m also happy to see lots of minority staff working here. I will continue to stay at this TB...
Read moreThis was an excellent hotel! after a few days on the road traveling from southern Ontario to northern Ontario this was the best place we have stayed at, hands down.
Location was easy to find, check in was fast and very friendly, hotel took many covid 19 safety precautions including hand sanitizers, use of mask by staff and by guests, and when we asked for a room that had been vacant for a few days they checked the list and were able to accommodate our request.
We were very pleased with the room, beds were extremely comfortable, bathtub nice and deep with lots of hot water! Room amenities included desk and chairs and phone and lamps and lots of places to plug in your various devices, fridge and microwave and in-room coffee maker, TV, hair dryer, iron, safe... all the things that you would expect out of a great hotel.
breakfast was very interesting. free breakfast was included but because of covid 19 the typical breakfast buffet that you normally would experience could not be operated in that fashion. Breakfast was a grab and go Brown bag. Arrows on the floor to indicate direction that you walked, there was juice and coffee available to go and individually packaged cereals and oatmeals, hard boiled eggs, and different types of English Muffin breakfast sandwiches that you could microwave. Excellent start to the day.
we were very pleased and will definitely return here on our...
