I appreciate the opportunity to share feedback about our recent stay I feel like the surveys aren’t super genuine, since they always say the same thing back to you. As a health-conscious guest, I’d like to offer constructive suggestions for improvement.
Some positives included breathtaking ocean views from most rooms, a hot tub nearby(asked to be closer but I dont thing they understood), new comfortable beds (pillows are too full, brought my own), and courteous staff(except for the one girl in the restaurant that denied me an alternative breakfast option which had been offered prior times). Over the years there have been consistent disappointments, unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed worldwide.
My partner ate the food he thought it was super poor quality, undercooked bacon as you can see in the photo and gross eggs, his words, he also filled out the survey which he never does to complain, form letter back, I wrote but no one got back to me. I think that when you pay your Hard earned money to go somewhere special at Christmas you should kinda expect it to be better than at home at least. There has been a huge decline in breakfast quality with this new cafeteria food just Cisco food nothing healthy (I can go on in detail), cleanliness issues like dirty dishes on arrival and mould, and equipment malfunctions in the new gym, notably missing attachments such as the lap pulldown bar and room changes since door didn’t work twice with keys given
Enhancing breakfast choices with healthy options like eggs, bacon(cooked properly, berries, nuts, and low-carb items such as cottage cheese, would significantly improve guest satisfaction and save money. I think some people think that might be healthy, however, someone that is say a diabetic, compromised health or health conscious would not in any way, shape or form, as there was no way to mitigate the food choices by food combining. I fasted for breakfast instead even though my breakfast was included, thankfully, we did have a kitchenette as we every time have and were able to purchase food at the co-op there’s not always good available in Tofino so we knew this going in, but we didn’t think the breakfast would be worse . And we bragged about the prior breakfast before the Browns Social House took over to our friends who came to meet us for Christmas dinner and to stay here too. Their kitchenette pots and pans were also dirty and they had to move rooms in the cold was uncomfortable, their take on their stay was also disappointing, and the same as ours They also had to move rooms and they paid for the kitchenette, but yet when they got there, there was no kitchenette and having to move rooms in the cold was uncomfortable and their take on their stay also disappointing, and the same as ours. The overall cleanliness, communication discrepancies, and missed promotional offerings from a prior time too were concerning. They listed a promotion on the wall and we stayed between that time, so where is our coupon? Making offers like that is just teasing your customer. Notably, Zed Hotel offers impressive breakfast and dinner options such as carnivore and low-carb; we were referred there for Christmas dinner and I’ve never been so happy with a menu I could eat absolutely anything on it, it was extremely healthy they are putting so much effort in.
Small gestures, especially during special occasions like Christmas, can leave a lasting positive impression on guests. Zed Hotel, for instance, provides a thoughtful gift on guests’ doors on Christmas Day.
In our six visits to Tin Wis Best Western Tofino, we’ve noticed both improvements and declines. Consistency in maintaining proper service standards is crucial for a better guest experience.
Another thing we noted was all their gutters were plugged up so hopefully they take care of that. I can only imagine how difficult it is to get staff. It was just good that they were still kind and friendly every time so that always makes that better. We do want it to be the best place! Keep working at it....
Read moreI understand that COVID has changed the way hotels operate and that they are all doing their best to keep their staff and customers safe. That being said, know that you are still going to be charged the same rates with very little in the way of amenities. No hot tub, no fitness center, no real breakfast (you get a best western version of a McMuffin and an assortment of cereals), Nobody cleans your room, etc. All of those things I can understand to an extent, but it’s hard to pay $400+ a night and get very little. My two major complaints are that the rooms are very noisy. We were staying on the first floor and were treated to a constant soundtrack of people stomping above us. We did tell the front desk staff and they mentioned it to the people above us. Unfortunately it did little to change our upstairs neighbors habits, and we didn’t want to have to continue to keep Calling the front desk when it clearly wasn’t going to do anything. My second and biggest complaint is their dog policy. I called twice to confirm their pet policy as it states to do that on their website. I was told that we could leave our dog in our room if it wasn’t going to bark or be disruptive. WRONG. We arrive and the lady checking us in tells us that we can’t leave our dog in the room. Period. Had I known this I would have booked a different accommodation where we could have left our dog in the room to go to dinner. Instead we had to cancel our dinner reservations and ended up eating in our very loud room for our vacation. I have a big issue with the fact that I wasn’t able to make an informed decision because the hotel misrepresented their pet policy and unfortunately there was nothing we could do once we checked in. All in all we loved the access to the beach and the location, just wish we had had all the information about what was available and clear information on their pet policy.
UPDATE BASED ON TIN RESPONSE:
I didn’t talk to you Todd on the phone about my reservations, so that must be someone else who had to change their plans. I don’t have an issue with your pet policy. I have an issue with your staff misinforming me before I arrived and this removing my ability to make an informed decision on where to stay. By the time the policy was explained PROPERLY we were checking in, at that point we have committed to your hotel and are unable to change without losing a significant amount of money. It is not good business practice to misrepresent yourself to get the sale and then change your tune after the...
Read moreWe had a disappointing stay. First, immediately upon walking into our room we find hairs on our toilet. Then trying to take a shower after a long day of travel, could only get lukewarm water, though the next day we did have hot water. When flushing the toilet, the pipes pounded and were very loud, and I mean concerning loud. When I informed the staff, they didn't seem too concerned about it. The next day we went into Tofino and much to our dismay the parking situation was horrendous and you would drive around forever for a spot. When we asked the Best Western if they had a shuttle service they said yes, but not for another 3 weeks. Well that doesn't help us very much as Tofino was very crowded and you would think they would provide this very necessary service. Customer service very lacking. This made our stay in Tofino very frustrating and took away much of our enjoyment of the area as we wasted an inordinate amount of time just driving around looking for a parking space. Breakfast was worse. The first morning we went down with an hour left in their serving time and they were out of just about everything and the place was a mess. They had one half functioning toaster out with people jostling and pushing to get to the toaster. It was such a bad situation people were coming up and hogging the toaster while others in their family would come up and put bread in while people were waiting. Really? There were absolutely no healthy options. This was so disappointing because this is such an active natural area you would think they would provide fresh fruits, granolas and healthy cereals. None of that existed. Just cheap eggs, microwave cheap bacon, etc. Even though the next morning they had things out, it wasn't much better because the selection was so limited and awful. We stay at a lot of Best Westerns and we were shocked. This was one of the worst breakfasts we've had at a Best Western. The the physical makeup and location to the beach of the property was wonderful and the view from our room was excellent. But - We saved our points for many years and spent all of our points which were equal to a lot of money and many, many stays at Best Westerns. Again, very disappointing. Based on my experience I do not recommend this property. There are many more...
