12/14/24 - Dear Reader, A HUGE thank you to the staff and management team at Hampton Inn & Suites in Toronto! We were in town for Taylor Swift but our original booking location was a Mean scam so we had to Change plans. We were panicking, out in the Midnight Rain, not sure where we would stay. Hampton Inn came in with a big save like a White Horse, actually had a room available to accommodate the 4 of us, and were SUPER understanding of our situation. We Were Happy to have a Gorgeous room. But that was just check in, it gets better!
Our room had a King Bed and a pull out bed/sofa. To our amazement, the pull out bed was ACTUALLY comfortable! You know how some sofa beds have that bar in the middle that kills your back? I'm convinced that it didn't exist in ours. The 4 of us rotated between the King bed and the sofa bed, so all of us slept in the bed and NONE of us had any back pain. It was actually VERY comfortable, great restful sleep, comfy beds. Our room was very spacious with great Style, a microwave, mini fridge, desk, as well as having the shower and toilet separated On The Other Side of The Door from the bathroom sink.
Their breakfast chefs kiss was amazing and delicious. So many great options. Cereal, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, coffee, muffins, toast, yogurt. Everything you could want for a cozy meal. And the breakfast area was SPACIOUS! Plenty of seats to accommodate everyone visiting. And it was CLEAN, comfy seats and tvs on the wall. Their breakfast just Hits Different compared to other places.
If I ever return to Toronto this will be the FIRST PLACE I look at to Stay Stay Stay. Thank you SO MUCH for being such an accommodating location for our first ever visit to Canada. Big shout out to Superstar managers May and Edwin, as well as Scott working overnight shift for accommodating us that first night. We were Enchanted to meet you and would stay for a Fortnight if we could. If you're looking for a hotel in Toronto, I Know Places to go.
In all seriousness, Taylor references aside, this hotel was amazing and I highly recommend it for travelers. Great location downtown, close to restaurants and convenience stores. Clean, modern hotel, great rooms, great staff. You do have to pay $50/night to keep your car on property but it's a closed in and secure garage, protected from the elements and connected to the building. Worth it for the vehicle security, if a little pricy. But the breakfast is free and included with your stay, so that's a benefit. Overall...
Read moreThe location is about a 10-minute walk from the subway, but it’s quite difficult if you’re rolling luggage along a busy, narrow street. I would recommend finding a different hotel to stay at. The room service is only scheduled for a specific day, which I believe was just once a week. Even then, all they do is take out the trash. If you want more frequent service like fresh sheets, trash removal, or restocked toilet paper, you have to specifically ask the staff.
When I first arrived, a male employee offered me goodie bags and told me I could take as many as I wanted. The next day, another male employee made the same offer when I returned from my outing. However, on the third morning, I encountered a rude manager named Edwin Marroquin, who was working the front desk. He yelled at me for taking the goodie bag, even though the other staff had said it was fine. An asian female employee also scolded my kids for grabbing a bag, which was surprising given that these bags only contained a water bottle and a granola bar.
For context, I frequently stay at Hampton Inn hotels, and the front desk staff are always happy to offer water, snacks, toothpaste, and essentials, encouraging me to take as much as I need. After the incident with Edwin and the female staff member, both of them put all the goodie bags away, making my family feel uncomfortable, as if we had done something wrong by accepting what was offered.
To make matters worse, when I returned to the hotel later, I noticed Edwin staring at us through the doors, as if he thought we were random strangers walking in. I later asked another staff member about the goodie bags, and he confirmed that the other employees don’t mind guests taking them. However, he added that if Edwin Marroquin is around, he insists they can only be given to VIP guests to sway them.
If you’re curious, Edwin Marroquin can also be found on LinkedIn. His unprofessional behavior and the inconsistency in service made for a very unpleasant experience. I would not...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown Toronto while attending an international conference. We chose this hotel because it was just a 5-minute walk from the venue—very convenient.||From the moment we arrived, Roy at the front desk made a wonderful impression. He was always polite, professional, and greeted us with a warm, sincere smile.||Unfortunately, after two nights, my husband became ill with flu-like symptoms. The doctor advised us that his illness was contagious, so I requested to move to another room to avoid getting sick. The two front desk staff members on duty at that time were not very accommodating. One of them told me the hotel was full and only had a small room with a queen-sized bed. I went online and used all of my remaining Honor Points, along with a discounted rate, to reserve that small room myself.||The room was clean but cramped and didn’t have a desk, which made it difficult for me to work. I tried to work in the lobby, but it was very noisy due to a group of guests playing cards loudly.||After two nights, I went back to the front desk to extend my stay. Roy and another staff member, Dalage, were on duty—and what a difference! They were empathetic and helpful. Dalage explained that weekend events in Toronto, rates had increased; but, she kindly adjusted the rate and arranged for me to move to a much more spacious room with a lovely view. By then, my husband was feeling better, and I was finally able to rest and recover from the stress.||Although the pandemic has officially ended, viruses still circulate, and getting sick while traveling is no small matter. I’m incredibly grateful to Roy and Dalage for their hospitality and kindness during a difficult time. People like them truly make the world a...
