I spent 4 days here and can assure you, they were lovely. The room had excellent A/C, wifi, shower, bed, lighting, and teapot, but no fridge. Aleda, at the front desk, was my savior. She speaks Creole, Portugese, French, and English and can't do enough to assist. She set me up for a driver to take me for my excellent $9.00 pedicure, set up two local tours, which you absolutely have to do to see the sights of this beautiful island, stored my milk for tea in the common fridge, and arranged my airport pick up and return. Without her assistance, I would have had a heck of a time because everybody speaks French or Portugese. There is a mini mart literally across the street, where you can get cold drinks, beer, snacks, toiletries, etc. Breakfast is very filling with buffet eggs, fresh breads, fruit, juices, coffee/tea, yogurt some days, meats, and their traditional maize, bean offering. The Plateau, a UNESCO site is a very short walk up t | he hill.|I have already passed the word to my traveling buddies to stay here!|One small note. I did try to eat dinner in the restaurant one night, and after waiting 20 min. with no response from the very visible workers, I left because there was only one other person in the restaurant, and by the look of things, he hadn't been served yet either. I walked across the steeet and got beer and peanuts. No biggy, because I loved everything else about...

Room was good size with small balcony, good aircon & bed very comfortable. Had problem with the wifi but they added a local router which solved the problem, Reasonable restaurent on site offering good selection of dishes.||My only criticism was the absence of tea & coffee facilities in the room, although hotel website lists them as offered, was one of the reasons I selected this hotel & was a disappointment.||Airport shuttle worked well with Edy as the driver, and if you're lucky you can book him from the hotel for a private day tour of Santiago, I did just that & it was excellent. Language was a bit of a problem, the owner does not speak English but reception staff do as do a couple of...
Read moreWhile we'd probably recommend any other travellers to Cape Verde just skip Praia, we still really appreciated our stay at this hotel!
The room was simple, clean, with everything we needed (although the safe had been left locked open with a previous code). The staff was friendly and very helpful throughout our stay, and would provide a very convenient free shuttle/driver service to dinner which we really appreciated - people repeatedly told us to avoid walking around certain areas of Praia at night, and this allowed us to get to the nicer areas (the Plateau, the seaside restaurants) without needing a taxi each time. You will still need to arrange for a taxi back.
The breakfast was the best we had at any of the hotels/BnBs we stayed in throughout our trip! Served on a roof terrace with a nice view of the city (and the sunrise), with delicious local food that would...
