Cafe Sofia — Restaurant in Platô

We went there in the morning for breakfast. We ordered 2 pancakes and a platter of fruit with two coffees. After 10 minutes waiting the waiter informed us there was no fruit, so we opted for sharing a sandwich (ham and cheese, nothing fancy). 30 minutes later still no sign of our food or drinks, but the two girls sitting next to us got served 2 pancakes, even if they arrived 10 minutes after us, because a guy the waiter knew convinced them to join a guided visit somewhere. 40 minutes after ordering we receive our pancakes and sandwich. The pancakes weren't bad, but for 500 CVE I was exporting a lot more, at least in quantity. The sandwich was a piece of cold bread (not toasted) with cold ham and cheese inside. Stuff that could have been prepared in under 5 minutes took 40. When we finished and paid, we thanked and said goodbye and the waiters didn't even reply. Quite a poor experience overall. Apparently the music is good at night...but that has very little to do with the food and...

Has got a French or Italian café vibe. Nice square (a few drunkards and vagrants sometimes causing disturbances but that's not the staff fault ;-) ) It's the only pizza I had in Cabo Verde that I actually liked. They also have excellent coffee, pancakes, and the breakfast cachupa with an egg and sausage is just great! Also we found the staff very friendly and helpful they speak either very good English or French, or both. If you're just landing in Cabo Verde it's the perfect place to try some local dishes and discuss with locals while making holiday plans. It's also the only part of Praia that feels safe at night, though I wouldn't go on an hour walk. But go to and from café Sofia and your nearby B&B felt...

We waited over 1:20 hour for an omelette and a toast. Had to ask about the food during that period a couple of times. No one seemed to care, nobody ever excused themselves for the really long wait. When the food arrived, it was also not what we ordered. (Everyone around us who ordered later already had their food or even left already). When you order a cappuccino you will get a chocolate milk/chai latte/cappuccino mix. And when you order a basic coffee with milk, you will get an espresso macchiato. We would definitely NOT recommend, the service also was really slow...
