Tourists trap. The staff are rude, food is barely average, prices are huge!
From the moment we sat down, the waiter was super pushy at trying to up-sell the more expensive drinks / dishes. Eventually we ordered drinks, one starter to share and mains. Waiter brought drinks quite quickly and in like 20 minutes the mains followed - although the starter never arrived. We didn’t make a big deal of the starter missing and were happy to receive our mains (as we were very hungry). Yet, when my girlfriend tried her “goat in the oven” dish, it was completely cold (which suggests that the dish was either pre-made or not eaten by somebody and served to us since how can you cook such dish and get it completely cold all in 20 minutes???). When we told about this to the waiter, he did not say a single word, took the dish and dropped it in the kitchen. 5 minutes later, the waiter brought the same dish, this time warm - obviously heated in the microwave. In the meantime while my girlfriend was waiting for the dish to be brought back to her, another waitress asked if everything is ok and my girlfriend explained that she is waiting for her main to be brought back to her and that we never received our starter. The waitress explained that they did not have tuna pate that night and wasn’t sure why our waiter did not inform us about that.
After eating our mains (which actually were worst quality dishes we had in whole Cape Verde), we decided to try deserts in hope to fix the night. We made it very clear to the waiter that we wanted our deserts to arrive at the same time as coffee. Yet, deserts came, coffee never did. However, this time the waiter at least apologised for not bringing coffee and then we ordered another desert, just so we could have something with our coffee. To be fair, deserts were nice, but that’s about it.
The worst part - we paid 5,000 CVE which was our most expensive dinner and it was far from being worth the money.
We would not recommend this restaurant and would even describe it as tourists’ trap as everyone around us were actually tourists and not many people seemed to enjoy...

Read moreWell...the dinner and live musical evening was part of our tour package and it was basically a Friday night tourist trap so I should not have had very high expectations. The service, food and drinks were average. I did not care for the tourist trap atmosphere nor the environment of turning over the tables as quickly as possible. I was MOST disappointed at the evening’s entertainment: a rotation of three male vocalists who did Morna a disservice. Cesaria Evora put Morna on the global map and they were not equipped to do justice to such a beautiful genre. They were much better instrumentalists and should have stayed in that role because their singing was uninspiring, dull and well boring which almost put me to sleep during their sets. Yes, I’m particular about music and have enjoyed a lifelong passion for it, so sorry I just don’t believe they should have been singing. Would I return:...
