For the traveler who does not need resort accommodations, but prefers a quiet, simple place to sleep, cook a couple meals and seriously enjoy snorkeling and diving, this is the perfect place. ||||My dad and I came to GC for the first time for one reason: to scuba dive. We wanted to save on living expenses to spend on diving all morning and snorkeling all evening. This was the only place we found on the island that was under $200/day. I think it is perhaps the only place you can find that isn't a super expensive hotel room on 7 Mile Beach. The prices were fair for Cayman prices (which you will quickly find out are insane, with a 15% service fee added to EVERYTHING). ||||We were given a room at the end of the block of apartments with a sea/harbour view. From our own private dock, we could snorkel, watch the sunset and dry all of our gear every afternoon. Some of the best snorkeling we did was 200 yards off of the dock. Don't bother going to other sites for snorkeling. If you are patient, you can see pretty much everything from that dock. There are also a couple of charcoal bbq grills, an out door shower, plenty of beach chairs, a covered gazebo, a picnic table and spouts to get water to clean your feet. Speaking of water, the tap water is clean enough to drink and we had no problems with it. ||||The accommodations are simple but good. Air conditioning, shower with warm and cold water, a small kitchenette with two burners, a microwave, a fridge+freezer, coffee pot, pots and pans, blender, silverware, plates and cups. There were dish wash soap and hand towels, as well as paper towels. We were able to cook 4 meals in the kitchen, which saved us a lot on $40 dollar meals in GC for two people. ||||It is also located in the perfect spot of town, 3 minute walk to the biggest grocery store on the island, and smack between 7 mile beach and Georgetown. Our walk to the dive shop was 5 minutes and into town was another 10. ||||The staff greeted us when we arrived and showed us to our rooms. They cleaned the apartment every day except sunday, changing the towels and making the bed. There was strong wifi in the entire complex except for our room. It wasnt bad though, all we had to do was sit on the balcony of our apartment or sit on the beach/closer to the office. ||||It was a quiet, quaint stay, with the best sunset view on the island. There are lots of harmless iguanas and lizards, but that made us like it even more. We give this 5 stars...
Read moreWe stayed in #3 for ten nights. We chose an apartment with a separate bedroom, which was spacious, although the fixtures were somewhat dated and the bathroom appeared to have been half-upgraded, with a nice toilet and vanity basin, but the bath was old and the surface was breaking up. There was a new shower curtain.||||The kitchen is fitted with lots of (dated) cupboards and a breakfast bar, cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee maker. A kettle would have been very useful. The crockery was clean and seemed quite new, as were the pans. All of the plates, dishes, glasses, mugs, cutlery etc were in sets of four. We also had a dining table, two sofas (one was a bed settee, with a mattress available if required) Air conditioning units were fitted in the bedroom and the lounge area. They were efficient enough but noisy.||||The balcony was supplied with two sunbeds and two new-looking rattan chairs and table.||||The apartment was clean, but we didn't have sheets changed during our stay and the towels were only changed once. We were supplied with swimming towels, which again were not changed. I'm not sure if we should have asked for this to be done, but really would have expected it to just happen.||||A laundry room is available on site and we were able to purchase Cayman quarters from Millicent who was the person we dealt with at the location. It cost US$5 for enough quarters to wash and dry a load of washing.||||Sunbeds and picnic tables are available on the beach area. There is access to the water for snorkelling from the pier and a good selection of fish can be found close to the ironshore.||||The Kirk supermarket is available just across the road, as is KFC. It's a few minutes walk into George Town. This is an excellent location.||||We had a fabulous view from our apartment, and the room faces the sunset, which was quite spectacular.||||It would have been useful to have a folder with information...
Read moreWonderful place to short or long term. Very quiet peaceful place to unwind and relax. Walking distance to 7 mile beach. Apartments are well equipped with all you need to fix meals in .Do to several food allergies, I rarely go to restaurants. Although there are a number of wonderful restaurants nearby within walking distance. There’s also a grocery store right across the street. The neighbors are quiet and the views from the rooms are spectacular! The I rarely go to restaurants. Although there are number of wonderful restaurants right next door and nearby within walking distance. There’s also a grocery store right across the street that has fresh salad, fruit, and hot meal bars where you can get a prepared meal to enjoy on your room. The neighbors are quiet and the views are spectacular! The property is located right at a coral reef. So you can snorkel right off the dock and see wonderful fish and marine life. Most importantly it’s a family run business and the family members are wonderfully welcoming and the staff are attentive to your needs. Many guests return every year and stay for extended periods of time. This is my 5th visit to Grand Cayman and my 3rd stay at Harbourview. It’s truly my home...
