I want to say I asked around the island for the best Thai restaurant and Thai Orchid was highly recommended. So I decided to have dinner there on one of my evenings on my vacation I want to say I’ve been to Thailand four times each time over a month in length and Thai Orchid was probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I like to enjoy spicy Thai food especially the coconut milk so I had the curry chicken. Then I ordered the bread pudding dessert and hands-down this was the best bread pudding I’ve had my whole life. And I ordered macadamia/cranberry cookie to go which I ate on the airplane on the way home that was the best part of the whole flight 😋 so if you’re looking for Thai food in the Grand Cayman Islands look no further. Thank you, Edward Alligier

My husband and I took a rare lunchbreak this week at Thai Orchid. Well we should definitely go more often...it's been probably 8 years (at least) since our last meal here. We had the set lunch menu, a STEAL at $21 each for three courses and a glass of wine. We chose different options each so that we could taste each others' food. A tiny bit disappointed that the advertised sole dessert of Tiramisu was not available and was not pointed out to us until the server produced our almond cake instead (good thing neither of us were allergic to nuts). Can't complain about the cake though, it was beautifully presented and delicious.

Best Thai food outside of Thailand (I've traveled there 3 times, for reference). Amazing food, amazing service, very attentive and sweet staff, actually Thai which is a serious bonus! Pad Thai was so-so, but I'd recommend branching out a bit and trying the Thom Yum soup (ah-may-zing) or the fried noodle salad or even something spicier! We did a family style meal, and haven't stuffed our faces that much in ages. Everything was amazing, and the sweet staff even helped us learn some Thai! 10/10 would go again or recommend to a friend.

HORRIBLE food & service. This weekend was my first and last time at Thai Orchid. Atmosphere was okay but the food/some of the staff’s attitude was appalling. I was late to a friend’s BDAY lunch, and was light headed (had not eaten all day). I wasn’t finding what I wanted on the menu so I just asked for the Thai Orchid fried rice, but in the same instance I inquired about if I can get fried rice as a small side to another meat dish (something fried/battered. I asked what they had). The waitress suggested one non-fried meat dish which I didn’t want, then said no, the meat’s only mixed in. I said i’ll just get the fried rice with pork and shrimp then.

When the main food came, I saw a friend had gotten a small side of fried rice with a fried meat (it ended up being sweet and sour chicken). That was exactly the type of thing I was asking for (again, I just resorted to asking the waitress about options rather than going through the entire menu as I was late and hungry). I was honestly okay to just forget it as I can accept that okay.. perhaps I was not clear enough in my explanation of what I wanted.

BUT then my food was brought out right after her’s and I was so taken aback at what looked like left over food thrown together to become dog food. It was literally just a mess of plain white rice and meat, that was SO bland and off putting visually, I have no idea how that could have been classed as fried rice.

A friend convinced me to try asking the waitress about replacing (I was reluctant). I spoke to the waitress and told her I was initially asking for something like what my friend got, etc. She was loud/tone so rude (I see another review here from a year ago saying how a staff shouted. The restaurant’s reply shows no customer service or accountability. If this staff was not shouting and she just speaks irritatingly loud, she should be mindful of her tone). The waitress said very loudly “You ask me if you could get on the side like that and I said you CAN’T.” I said “Yes, but she got that? that’s what I wanted.” She said “No, you cannot get it on the side because this is fried rice and it’s a different dish” she said again very loudly. Clearly I was initially asking about a different dish as an option but anyway. She then asked me if I wanted the menu again. Not sure if she was willing to let me replace it for free or was asking if I wanted to order something else and pay for both. But I was so turned off at her rude tone of voice, that I did not want to ask and clarify, because I feared that she could possibly say something embarrassing like “No you have to pay for both” in the same loud tone for the nearby tables to hear. So I just told her, I’ll take a to-go box. I did not end up eating a main course there. So basically I ended up paying over $30 CI for just drinking an iced tea and eating 4 tiny shrimp I got as appetizers before.

ALSO, my appetizer & my friend’s were both $11 on the menu (my bill said otherwise). I asked waitress & she said it’s actually $12.95 but not reflected on the menu (what?!), I said why? she said she will check. She came back saying I was charged the dinner price mistakenly (while my friend was charged the lunch price we both ordered AT LUNCH). Ridiculous.

THEN we were there a bit after our meal, and two of the waitresses kept passing by giving me bad looks (I don’t know why me specifically, I didn’t even book it). One of them came next to me with a completely rude face and picked up my empty glass I had my iced tea in, and didn’t say a word.

So, we left as the others joked “That’s our queue to leave.” When I went home, I decided to take a taste of the boxed “fried rice.” It tasted as disgusting as it looked! My mom tried it the next day and literally said “What the hell is this? Jesus”

White rice with no soy sauce, no distinctive brown colour and bland meat? I had to google how Thai fried rice looked, but as I saw online.. it surely is NOT like that. I won’t be surprised if the restaurant responds to this review with no accountability, just like they did with the other...

Just found and ate at this little jewel tonight . My hubby, son and I had a courteous waiter. He was also quick and willing to change my sons cranky attitude my son was insistent on Keeping the menu/iPad so I guess you could say that having to grab it out of his little fingers was not easily and quietly done. The restaurant has iPad menus that remain easy for those who are not savvy -oh- and they show you what every dish looks like when you tap on the dishes name. Pretty neat 😎!!!) Just my opinion here ; I think they should maybe have 'Paper' menus just in case you don't want your little one causing a commotion ............Anyway................... The food was delicious and made to order ! FYI ~ a little pricey but if your on Grand Cayman and want fresh food ( besides catching your own ) then get that wallet out! But it's sooooooo worth it I know I'll be...

My wife and I have a 10 month old daughter. We had a long day of visiting the east end and tour of caves. Daughter was definitely not in the mood to sit and dine in so we decided to do take away from this location as it was walking distance for us. The staff was so friendly. I left my wife as our daughter was starting to fuzz, while my wife waited the staff heard me tell my wife to have some wine while she waits for the food. The staff sat my wife at the bar and treated her to some snacks on the house and it just made my wife’s night as she enjoyed her wine! Food was absolutely delicious and portion size will definitely have you some more food for later. Highly recommend this restaurant, great sushi bar with staff that cares. Thank You to all that made my...
