I stayed here for a conference. This is a Chinese hotel, and not a foreign chain, so the experience feels more typical of East Asian luxury hotels than Western. The room itself was for the most part, clean and neat. the bed is comfortable. However, as I have noticed in other Chinese hotels, while the rooms are general clean, the corners of the room seem to gather dust. Lighting and plumbing worked well, no issues there. Ample power outlets including USB ports, but you should realize that there are 3 different types of prongs that are used in this hotel. I was able to use a standard 2 prong flat plug without issue (see photo). Coffee cups and glasses were provided in the room along with a hot pot and tea bags, coffee dripper packs, sugar/liquid coffee mate. There was a mini fridge, partially stocked (so lots of space for your own snacks!), mini safe, and they provide 2 bottles of water a day (note: tap water in China is not drinkable. While some claim it is ok to drink after boiling, that will only kill bacteria but will not remove any mineral/toxic sediments). Amenities included mini bottles of shampoo/conditioner/bath gel/soap/body lotion and a small bottle of bath salts should you decide to use the somewhat narrow bath tub. There is an adjacent but separate shower. Staff were courteous and efficient. I did not have any issues there. None were effusively friendly, but none were rude. There are two banks of elevators which seem to run rather efficiently. I never had an issue with waiting too long for one to arrive. The breakfast buffet that came with my room was wonderful! Lots of traditional Chinese breakfast options such as congee, noodles with do it yourself add ins/toppings, stir fried vegetable choices, tofu as well as typical American and European offerings (which I did not try). Location seems to be in the middle of a financial district, but it is 2 subway stops from the Wanfujing shopping district (which has a lot of malls with high end retailers as well as a few Chinese luxury department stores and...
Read moreStayed here simply because it was the pick up point for the Great wall Marathon early in the morning. I have lived in China four years and the general rule is, if the hotel has International in the name, it's probably not very international... This is somewhat the case here, the front desk staff spoke very little English and did the classic nervous laughter as we approached (having lived in China for years this does get boring and shouldn't be the case in a hotel of this price). However, they were polite and the hotel is clean and they were kind enough to give us a late check out. The hotel is also connected to an excellent commercial gym which they don't advertise at all (you can use for free as a hotel guest). It's walking distance to the train station but not really walking distance to the main areas of interest and restaurants. For somebody visiting Chinaz you'd be better of somewhere else for a similar price with more English however generally speaking it's a decent hotel depending on...
Read moreWell located. A few minute walk to railway station. Very big, nice pool. Warm water. 1.5m deep but it has a kids lane that was around 1m deep. Pool facility operated by external service provider, hotel guests can enter the gym and pool however if you don’t have wechat that is connected with chinese phone number or speak chinese, it is very complicated. They don’t speak english and lockers operate via wechat. My kid and I had a real hassle to make our way to the pool 😆 Front desk of the hotel almost don’t speak english to communicate but very kind and tries their best to help and answer your questions. Oh, and there was a bath salt 🥰 sooooo nice taking relaxing salt bath after a long travel. 1L drinking water replaced everyday was so convenient. Welcoming fruits - yummy. Although hotel itself a bit old, many things that attracted - location, comfort, breakfast, kindness of staff & small but lovely gestures that reflected authentic Chinese...
