Arrived in late November , had to reject 1st room Becos at level 5 , if u orientate facing main road you will hear the huge air ducts below . Had to reject 2nd room at level 17 facing garden . Becos in winter , there is no air conditioning only heated air at 25-27 degrees centigrade . This room facing the afternoon sun was really warm at 27 degrees . Remember it’s facing the back garden . So on 3rd try we got a room on level 17 facing main road . At 25 degrees it’s passable . The beds are better quality also than the ones on 5th floor room . I suspect because this is a Japanese run hotel , they might be saving better quality rooms to the Japanese . Ok so my room had nice beds . Had everything you need . No western cable tv but I can accept as this is China . Toilet was weird , even with the blinds down they were translucent and the person in the toilet can clearly be seen . Take note even I was sharing the room with my daughter . Was weird . The bad thing is the room temperature . Yea it’s 24.5 to 26 degrees . Really feels quite warm . One of the nights to make room colder , I turned off the room air con which is set to around 25 and you can’t change the setting , you only hope that the cold glass windows will make the room colder . Yes it made the temperature at 23.5 at night , 2am was coldest and had a low of 23.5 in the room . However our next door guest smoked in the room and his smoke came inside our room . Was a nightmare !!! I was at the front desk next morning and said u better warn that fella or I will give him bollocks . We paid SGD$119 per night here in late November 2024 . Location & staff were of 5 star standard . But this hotel is really old . It’s not a bad hotel . But really in 2024 , you really should consider elsewhere as well before deciding to stay at new otani . The breakfast at SGD 30 is really expensive . Although we had McDonald’s almost everyday as it’s just beside the hotel . Because of the 5 star location beside the prestigious line 1 subway , a great massage spa “ Tang Quan Liang qi “ , a great Chinese restaurant “ Xie Shi fu “ nearby , and a 24hr convenience shop “ Lawson “ inside the hotel , there is also a nice onsen pool , gym and swimming pool but swimming cap is required or they charge u 30 RMB . Overall a safe & not crowded neighbourhood , great location , 5 star standard staff service , but the very old building , room temperature that’s beyond your control , and the very poor value for money breakfast , makes me think unless I can’t find better choices elsewhere , I won’t be coming back here . It’s not my 1st choice if I were to return...
Read moreBooked the hotel for 5 days and 4 night. 1. Location. Hotel had a great location it was near most of the attraction we went to such as Tianamen Square, Forbidden Palace, Wang Fu jing street, Sinchahai street, Qianmen Dajie street and many more attractions. We took taxi most of the time but the fare were very affordable all these destination mentioned above the fare was more or less RMB 20-40 only. The hotel was walking distant to subway too! So incase you're not into taxis then subway is an option too! 2. Cleanliness. With the days and night we were there we didnt find a single this to complain when it comes to hygiene or cleanliness of the room. Their was room was clean and spacious, they even have the japanese automatic bidet (love it). They also have bathtub in the room which my kid and I enjoyed very much. The bed was huge, enough for 3 adults + 1 kid and you can still squeeze 1 more adult for real no joke. We had a beautiful view of the building and the waterfall garden below us. 3. The Housekeeper were nice and very quick in terms of providing our request, for example we wanted more water bottles in the room since we got a toddler with us they quickly sent to our room right after calling customer service and we asked for more shower need then they gave us a plastic bag with loads of shampoo, conditioner , shower gel and lotion. All the front desk staff was really nice and friendly. They're just happy to provide us with great service. 4. Facilites. I would rate it 8/10, we had tried the massage in the hotel it was relaxing the staff didnt talk much which is a good thing as i really wanted to have some me time and relax, her skills were good too. Only downside from the spa was they didnt inform us that there is a discount coupon provided when we checked in which means we didnt get to enjoy the discount RMB 300 from spending RMD 1K +. Other let down was the location of the swimming, as I think the pool were quite far. Not sure if the hotel is too big that's why the pool and gym were quite far from the main building. Overall, it was still a good experience and will consider staying at this hotel in the future when I have the chance to visit beijing again. Thank you for...
Read moreA truly excellent 5-star hotel (if not better) in a great location with wonderful staff in and around the premise!Of special mention is the Front Office Manager, Mr Su Yan, who quickly and tirelessly helped salvage an issue with a friend who was initially part of the booking for the Twin-room. As this friend had submitted his passport to an embassy for a visa, he couldn't check in with me. As a result, a request was made for a double bed for single occupancy which was promptly met without incurring further charges. All staff, from the front office to housekeeping, maintained their courteous smiles and greetings throughout my 4 nights/5 days stay. This included even those at the restaurant for breakfast, who were quick to usher their guests to their tables, and to promptly serve the desired beverage.Breakfast was sumptuous with a good variety of choices from Western to Chinese, and even Japanese. My room was always cleaned as soon as I left for breakfast and this made it pleasant to return to the room, to plan the outings for the day.The subway, which was within walking distance helped with getting around Beijing without the hassle of being caught up in the horrific traffic which seems to be a common feature of this city. This was truly a spendid trip staying at this gem of a hotel that I had even contemplated extending my stay for another 2 nights. However, duty beckoned me to check out to return to work. I look forward to returning to this hotel once more should the opportunity present itself and I'm hoping that it'll...
