We took the metro line 18 from Tianfu Airport to South Railway station ( RMB 10 ) and then took a short ride in a taxi to reach this hotel. The staff were welcoming, helpful and polite. We had dinner of pork knuckles, dan dan noodles and healthy rice with salad including shrimps in the hotel restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the baskets of warm breads as well. Service is good and attentive and our lemon water were topped up frequently. |The twin room is comfortable and although there is no door for the shower area, my friend and I avoided using the sink or toilet when one of us is showering. At night we left the lighted torchlight in the toilet to provide night light. |On the 19th floor there is a smaller breakfast area beside the main one on the second floor. The view of the complex road systems from the window of a dining room was quite amazing. There is an indoor swimming pool too. The buffet spread during breakfast is very good with a wide varieties such as beetroot and celery juices in small glasses, cooked oatmeal, steamed corn, yam etc. After breakfast, we toured nearby Yulin 4th Lane for the numerous murals in a local residential area. We took a taxi (RMB 28) for our 20 mins ride to the East Railway Station for our HSR to Huanglongjiuzhai Station. The hotel was helpful in calling the...
Read moreThe service here is completely out of step with the rest of the hotel. The so-called upgrades for status guests are nothing but a scam.||Check-in is a mess and badly needs improvement. Why are guests not given the most basic information? When is the pool open? What are the breakfast hours? Where is breakfast served? None of this is communicated. And why isn’t there a simple information sheet in the room with all the essentials?||The upgrades are an insult to the customer. You get a bigger room, yes, but none of the promised benefits. The website clearly states that the category includes club access and a free minibar. Neither is provided. It’s like being given a room with a bathtub but being told you’re not allowed to use it.||In most other hotels, an upgrade comes with all the benefits. Not here.||The room itself has been renovated and features an open bathroom. Whether that’s appealing or not is purely a...
Read moreLocation: I would think Kempinski is a decent location for business travellers. However, for anyone who wishes to be in Chengdu for holiday, its a bad place. First of all, its far away from all attractions. Nothing within walking distance. Next, there is no eatery or convenience shop nearby. Its bad. Cleanliness: Still alright but its expected of Kempinski.Service: Try asking them for suggestions on what to do in Chengdu. The staff will throw you a booklet and ask you to read yourself. I can speak mandarin well. I can't read that well. So, that booklet was useless to me.Facilities: Gym is big but not well equipped. It's a gym but nothing much. The only good thing is that there is a warm and also another decent indorr pool.My ratings are from the fact that I have high expectations of Kempinski after staying in Bangkok Kempinski (beside Paragon). It was a great experience. But this CD Kempinski...
