I am a returning client; thus, my experience has been positive and good. In addition to your good amenities and facilities, it is your staff who continue to make the difference -- old and new staff alike have continued to live up to this fine tradition of excellent hospitality. I was happy to see some familiar faces after about 2 years and they continue to provide good services and they recognized me right away: Valgrent and Jason are just as excellent then as they are now. They are your bulwarks, make sure they don't leave. New staff who treated me so well as if they have known me a long time include Rebecca Xu, Anita, Catherine Zou, George Hu, Amie and Larry Rui. Valgrent and Larry went out of their way to help me book a nice Didi car, when I needed most. (I can let my company driver home early, thanks to their help.) Most of all I want to thank the Ah Yi's who keep my room clean and comfortable for me. Eva is always very nice, friendly and accommodating. Not only she did a good job cleaning but what I like about her is her very pleasant character and fine manners. For the other lady who clean my room, please also thank her. Sorry, I do not know her name. I have omitted to mention others, especially those who work on the Horizon floor, because I do not know their names. From the kitchen staff to the front line personnel on the Horizon floor, each is good in his or her own way. I sometimes dined in Shang Palace and everyone there is excellent and so are your staff at Café Z. Cheryl still remembers me from the old days, and treated me with utmost courtesy. She remembers my preference for honey with warm water in the morning. This, I consider as a personal touch par excellence. Last but not least, I want to thank Afread for "luring" me back from the JW Marriott. He convinced me to give Shangri-la another try. As I am a life-time Platinum member of the Marriott Group, I was naturally inclined to stay at the JW Marriott but Alread was persuasive. I congratulate the Shangri-la Group for having such a dedicated, persuasive and persistent Director of Sales. For those, whose names I have not learned, I will try to learn them next time. Please express my appreciation to each and all of them. I will be back...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel twice within 10 days. Took a break to JiuZhaiGou and left my luggage. I opted for a suite and sort of somewhat different experiences between both stays.||My first was located on the 25th floor. In general, the rooms were clean and immaculate. There were tidbits and tangerine on the coffee table. It was a nice touch. The room was warm despite lowering the AC. We had to request for a fan to further cool the room. The furniture is a bit dated but functional.||On my second stay, we were allocated a room on the 35th floor - along the same floor as the lounge. It was a corner suite. This room was probably repurposed from 2 single rooms to a suite with an adjoining door. The living room had no curtains and it was very warm in the middle of the day. It just had a sofa and a writing desk with TV. There was a cupboard with teas and water heater. No coffee machine. You can tell no attempts were made to make the room more hospitable. It was quite pathetic. This corner room has slanted windows at the side and they were very dirty. On the ledge were motors from the previous curtains. Terribly unsightly. Worst, when we check in after 3pm, we were told that our room was not ready. Anyway, the room was 3518.||Fortunately, housekeeping and service at the lounge was wonderful. Probably saved the stay from being disastrous.||On the concierge, the team doesn’t seem very informed about the night markets nor were they helpful about booking restaurants for their guests. They dun reply to emails promptly or worst, ghosted us. I was very disappointed especially their initial emails were enthusiastic and prompt. It slowly regressed to no service.||I will give the hotel a miss when I plan my next...
