Firstly HeeFun is not easy for taxi's to find and it would be harder for an individual to find if you choose to arrive by metro. HeeFun is located among a sea of high rise buildings in the Exhibition Centre and there is no sign because HeeFun is a group of apartments within one of the multiple high rise apartment buildings on this site.||||On arrival there are minimal people who speak English so do not expect a warm welcome and lots of information. In fact, when I asked about the closest restaurant for dinner I was looked at as if I have 3 heads and told to "catch a metro".... Where to, was never outlined and how to "catch a metro" wasn't explained (I went back later and asked for more information). The lack of ANY sort of eating establishment within walking distance is a definite BIG negative to staying at HeeFun because even though there is a 24hr 7eleven - there isn't alot of meal options. Also, although HeeFun are very nice "self contained apartments".... there are NO cooking or eating utensils in your "self contained apartments" when you arrive - there are no plates, no bowls, no knives or forks - NOTHING! just a kettle, two mugs and a microwave and stovetop hotplate. When I asked about this I was given a very old frying pan, an old saucepan, one large bowl and a rice bowl, a fork and spoon - I felt like I was being given rations not staying in a lovely complex.||||As I have mentioned the rooms are very nice and spacious. The bathrooms are beautiful and well stocked with shower products even if the towels are a bit on the old side. BUT my room stunk of cigarette smoke and there was an ashtray in the room!!!!!!! When I asked why I was given a smoking room when I asked for non smoking room I was told... "the whole hotel is smoke free - you have a smoke free room". When I asked why the foyer and room stunk of smoke and there was an ashtray in the room the reply was, "oh sometimes our guests smoke so we put an ashtray in there for them"!!!!!!!!!!!!!||||Communication with people outside China and receiving news from around the world is also fraught with difficulty. There is free wifi at HeeFun but it is extremely, extremely slow. Don't expect to be able to access google (so if you have a gmail account you cannot send or receive email on a laptop) and you cannot access facebook or facebook messenger in China - it can't be done! So make sure you have the WhatsAp app to keep in contact with people from home. The TV's have 18 stations and one station has English news BUT the English TV station isn't connected! ||||In summary, if you are going to a conference at the Poly World Trade Centre I would not recommend staying here even though it is convenient. At the end of your travel to this part of China the last thing you feel like doing is "catching a metro" to find a restaurant in this very busy city. At the end of a day at a conference, you want to relax with dinner and a drink and there is nothing remotely close by. The metro is very convenient to use to get to and from the Poly Trade Centre and staying in a hotel in an area where there are places to go, things to do and somewhere to eat would make your stay in Guangzhou much more rewarding and enjoyable. I would NEVER stay here again and would not recommend anyone to...

However, despite being an international facility, these stores do not accept overseas credit cards, which made services unaccessible and inconvenient. Alipay or Wechat is the general currency. Unsure about English as communication medium.|| ||There is a nearby tea mall across the road outside the community access zone (roads within closed to general public), with starbucks and KFC. || ||SERVICE|| ||The facility houses multiple accommodation companies, with several different agents at reception attending to different clientele. Therefore, one needs to find the “correct” agent for assistance. The others will generally ignore you. || ||LOBBY|| ||The high-ceiling of the lobby area is impressive, as are the splendid birdseye view from the apartment above the 40thfloor with river/canal view. || ||As we visited at a time when the conference center was not in use, the premises were not crowded and the waiting time for the elevator was bearable. The basement restuarants were relatively quiet. || ||On exit from the elevator on our apartment level, we noticed 2 fold-up beds against the wall, which was still evident on check-out. It appeared untidy and unprofessional in full view of guests and at such a public location. || || ||ROOMS|| ||Rooms were decent but not luxury. The design seems to reflect a refined service apartment for the upper market, but the maintenance does not reflect this. There was no internet initially, so we had to go back downstairs to inform reception as there was no phone in the room. || ||There was no teabags or coffee provided, which was a disappointment. The bathroom was clean but darker than anticipated. The desk chair was worn away and the fake pot plants did little to cheer guests up. The bathroom towels and linen appeared hard and could use with some fabric softener.|| ||We had no fussy issues about housekeeping, although ours was just a one night stay. Other reviews remark on the dust in the rooms, which on close inspection, is still evident in the finer details (such as the wooden panels below the TV, under the bed ect.). The wooden floors are stained and scraped dirty from use.|| ||The building compound has potential for more TLC, maintenance and upgrading to the high-level expected of high-level buildings and high-level apartments. || ||SUMMARY|| ||Overall, would give good positive review for the infrastructure and hardware, but not software. As author has experienced more problematic issues at other accommodations in China, this apartment would come above average. ||Further from Canton city centre with limited options, but well-appointed business accommodation for trade fair...
