The hotel is nice but if you don't speak Chinese, everything is difficult. 90% of the staff does not speak or understand simplest English, but they try to be helpful. The reason I stay there is because it's location next to Canton fair ground. The rooms are huge and have separate toilet, bath area, vanity and shower. The soaps are mounted on the shower wall, so no using them in the bath tub. The bed is huge and comfortable with nice pillows. Carpets on floors everywhere except the bathroom area.|The breakfast buffet is focusing on Asian cuisine, but you can find European breakfast staples such as croissants, yoghurt, fruits and toast there too. It pays off to have the breakfast at the hotel before heading to fair, there are no better options around. There is also ala carte breakfast in the lobby bar, but service is slow, so it's better to eat at the buffet.|Hotel's Chinese restaurant has nice traditional food, but since it is a hotel restaurant, it lacks character. The food in lobby bar (after hours service) is mediocre, nothing fancy, but eatable. Would recommend dumplings rather than a burger. The service staff in lobby bar are very young and unexperienced, I saw many tables asking for ice, or correct drinks for several times before they got it. The staff is friendly though, just really inexperienced. Have to be very clear when ordering or you won't get it at all. Lobby bar extends to outside seating, there are lots of mosquitoes that bite, I recommend applying a repellent if sitting outside at night time.|Entering the fair ground from the hotel is very easy. You can take the escalator from lobby to 3rd floor and just walk to the fair in 5 minutes.|There is nothing to see in this area, nor there are any shops or restaurants outside the hotel. There is a mini market couple hundred meters from the hotel, but you need Alipay or Wechat Pay to buy anything, international credit cards are...
Read moreI travel extensively in China and unfortunately I am way too busy to review any hotels I stay at, but I will make an exception for the Westin Pazhou.
From the time I walked in the front doors until I walked out the experience exceeded my expectations. The facility is fantastic and well maintained.
Fitness center has almost everything I would want.
The Club Lounge is beautiful and has one of the best food selections for happy hour of any lounge in China.
Breakfast in the lounge and downstairs was excellent.
The room was immaculate and well exceeded my expectations. Very clean and very nicely decorated.
But what really makes a hotel special, and makes THIS hotel special is the staff. All staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful. The staff in Club Lounge made me feel like I had been staying there for years, even though I only stayed two nights. I would like to thank them all by name, but unfortunately I did not get their names.
Special thanks to front desk manager Paul, customer service manager Edith, Ada in the restaurant on first floor, and Lance, who worked hard to help with a technical problem.
Unless you are going to the Canton Fair or another trade show at the attached complex, the location is a little out of the way, but subway station is only a 5 minute walk, and the price when no show is on more than makes up for a little travel time to the downtown. When there is a show on at Pazhou complex, being able to walk directly from the hotel into the complex by dedicated entrance with no lineups is beyond convenient.
I think it only took 45 minutes by subway to get to the airport, could have been a little longer. Only one transfer at Kecun station.
I'll stay here any time I am...
Read moreDecided to try out The Westin Pazhou for a weekend getaway within the city for some R&R. Had a very good impression as soon as we stepped into the spacious lobby of the hotel. Proceeded into the lift to go to the Executive Club Lounge for check in and was surprised with the friendliness and good spoken English of the Bellboy we bumped into in the lift.
Arriving in the Executive Club Lounge, we were greeted with warm smiles by the only male staff in the club lounge who was exemplary in his service for the whole duration of our stay! Check-in was a breeze and efficient and in no time, we were in our room. The club level Deluxe Room was spacious and the bed as in The Westin's tagline: was "Heavenly" indeed. After leaving our luggages, we decided to head to the Club Lounge for some R&R. My wife, daughter and I "hanged out" in the lounge and had some "room service" food ordered and delivered to the lounge as snacks. I must say that this is one of the best Executive Club Lounge I have been to, it was clean, spacious and the staff are efficient and ever helpful! Kudos to the Assistant Manager Of Westin Executive Club who heads the lounge and all her staffs - for being so hospitable, efficient and ever helpful. That made our stay very memorable and pleasant indeed!
Then there was the "happy hour" in the lounge from 1730hrs onwards. The snack spread was very good and the drinks adequate. Just wish the wine selection was better, but then again, couldn't really find any faults here. Also had breakfast in the Club Lounge, the spread is obviously not as big as the spread in the all-day dining restaurant in the ground floor, but it was still good enough for us and we thoroughly...
