Lovely, quiet hotel, sandwiched by a local community. It has its own carpark but no access to vehicles at reception. Nearest place is either a local bank by the entrance to the community or, oddly enough, by the carpark exit. The reception staff were extremely helpful and they went out of theur way to ensure ts western traveller was made to feel most welcome. On my visit the hotel airconditioning was not working, outside temp hit 35C and room temp 28C. The staff were very apologetic, but airconditioning needing repair is a fact of life, not thier fault, however they provided me with a large, lufe-saving fan, thus easing my stay considerably. That gesture was such a lovely, thoughtful thing to do and I cannot praise the staff high enough for such fantastic customer service. Brilliant!Rooms were dark, not everyone has a window on the world, but bedding was very comfortable, ensuite shower was superb, powerful and hot. Kettle and mini fridge supplied, but not a mini bar. 2 bottles water free per day.It is a low amenity accom, so no bars, pool, shops etc. It has a pleasant waiting area and an small outdoor seating area. There is also a small gym. There is a vending area which is part of the robot 24 hr service. I found it very handy that i could order a chilled drink and the robot finds its way to my room with it. It is a good system, the robot shows you to your room. I even found myself saying "good morning" to it, passing it in the hotel corridors as its chuntering away to itself. Breakfast was basic Chinese and nutritious, though toadt and cereals were available. The fresh irange juice was exactly that...freshly squeezed oranges....very healthy and refreshing. Very pleasant lady attendant, good English spoken though she kept telling me she didn't speak much.... and the chef would cook to order. Cannot fault this.Reception staff were knowledgeable of the local area too. Superb.Location: initially it seems to be the farside of nowhere but, once you get your bearings, it is very handy for city centre, local street shops, supermarket, laundry, chemist and a plethora of food places. Tianhe district is peaceful at night but surprisingly close to attractions! Great area to stay.10 minutes walk gets you to a Burger King, Lavazzo Coffee, Starbucks and some lovely Chinese coffee places....try them....Happy Valley shopping mall has a few as well as the obligatory McDonalds. On my travels, I prefer small business, family run coffee places and am never disappointed, though Starbucks and the major players are good and convenient too.Located approx 40 mins from airport, it is a fast route but not serviced with a bus, sadly. Taxi was 130RMB and about same using Didi express back.No local bars but Hooleys, Morgans and Party Pier are all within a 20 RMB taxi ride. Plenty of attractions in Guangzhou, Canton Tower and temples, parks and excellent shopping. This hotel is quiet and peaceful, located well and a very pleasant stay. Great value for money....
Read moreStayed here for 1 night in January and had a bit of a mixed experience. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke good English and the lobby, hallways and rooms were clean, with sleek furniture and decoration.||The room we were given really reeked of cigarettes, as it was only 1 night I didn't mind too much but it made the windowless room feel a bit squalid. I told the reception staff and they said they would get house cleaning to spray some air freshener, whether this happened or not I don't know, but the smell remained. Not sure how much the hotel can do about this, but its never been a problem in any other hotels I've stayed in.||||The location is a bit far out but Guangzhou is a bit city anyways so you'll have to rely on metro. However, it's about a 20 minute walk to the nearest metro station so its not the best connected of hotels.||||When we checked out, I asked reception if they could order us a taxi to Guangzhou South railway station and they said they could only order taxis for the airport. Its not a massive deal as we were able to flag one down ourselves but it just seems like a stupid rule to have, especially in a country where tourists generally have a hard time communicating.||||Ultimately it was a bit so so but it could have...
