Crowne Plaza Shanghai Hongqiao — Hotel in Shanghai

I stayed in this hotel with very disappointed experience. While arriving at the hotel, no door man stood around the gate to help guest, NOBODY at all. While checking, no recognition of member status. The price was including happy hour and afternoon snack time. I headed to the afternoon snack time. The music in the restaurant was loudly, but I still heard the chatting of the staff very clearly for the my whole stay in the restaurant, and staff wearing glove and T-shirt who I guest shall work in the back of the kitchen kept on walking in the restaurant even after I talked such situation to the manager of the restaurant. The breakfast was a disaster as the shrimp dumpling was gone of and tasted sour. When I checked out, I saw a lady stood in the counter for platinum member, I walked to the counter to check out, and was told that she DID NOT has the account to process check-out and asked me to wait for the next available counter. I was so surprised. Then a lady stood in the next counter came to me after I argued, and said she should work in this counter for platinum member. The reason the unknown lady standing here is because she SAW me standing in front of the counter, and then she came to help me. What is a liar!!! So disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is located closely to the major train station in Shanghai. This is very convenient to travel via underground walkways. You have no worry about not place for shopping and get decent foods. A good breakfast to enjoy different food.

However, there are rooms for the management team to improve …

Room cleanliness : the room is so called ready for guest to stay, while when I checked in…. It showed not totally ready, as some of garbage still remained in the room. It’s a very unacceptable to take the room like that.

Although the reception help me to move to a new room. It’s is still hard to believe in the cleanliness of the room for this hotel.

Management system: maybe the room is not yet ready to stay, but the system was wrong about the status…. The hotel management might need to find the root cause and avoid the above issue again.

Drop off area: As taking a taxi from airport to the hotel, it is not allowed to take a left turn when following the navigation…

Turn out I was forced to drop off to the opposite of the hotel and take my own luggage to hotel… not sure if the road next to the hotel drop off area can be replaced by a double dotted line…anyway it’s subject to the safety and traffic’s concern. (Just a thought).

This is a well-designed, comfortable hotel next to Shanghai Hongqiao Train Station. It's 5-minute walk to the train station and easy to go to the Hongqiao Airport too. It's a fantastic choice if someone is catching a train and plane. The welcome snacks and fruits are ABUNDANT! And breakfast and food in executive lounge are nice. The gym is small but functional with all the new equipment. And the hotel is surrounded by several shopping malls so nice restaurants are not a problem. I would definitely like to stay there again when I need to go back to Shanghai again.

Two small suggestions:

-I think Crown Plaza needs a new scent designer for the lobby. I feel it has the same one with the one I stay earlier in Guangzhou. But I think it's too strong and I don't like it.

-As a hotel next to a busy travel center which would have customers from everywhere, the power sockets are not international adaptable. I think it should be a must. But front desk staff gave...
