I took my family of 4 to the Hotel Indigo Shanghai Hongqiao. We came here from the 11th of June to the 12th of June. The reason for that is to catch a morning train for our vacation to Ningbo. This is basically the pre-staycation to a vacation. ||We checked in on the first floor. There we were checked in my Eric Cao of the front desk. He took 15 minutes and 39 seconds to check us in. Slightly too long, but decent for me. There was a complicated mix up in the reservation. We booked the Deluxe Room, which is located on Floors 6-10. The hotel attempted to put us in the Superior Room which is below it. With some good intention, they tried to put us there as there were no rooms left that’s together on the Deluxe. I asked Eric whether I will get reimbursed for getting the Superior Room. He said no. I asked him to just put us on the Deluxe Rooms, he had to give us separating floors. To the reservations department, I would much appreciate if you can next time just reserve the rooms together, not just make a booking and assign us a random room at check in. Eric was kind and professional. He helped me assign someone to clean my toilet and booked my shuttle to Hongqiao Station. Thank you Eric.||The rooms (620 & 920) to say the least was great. I like the modern European Design with the French Design. The shower was quite powerful. We like the thoughtful design of the Twin Bed Room. Would be nice if there is a bathtub for a 40SQM room. We like the bath amenities. The TV had plenty of channels both foreign and domestic. The bed for me was comfortable. This is unlikely, but there might be bed bugs. But it may have been the mosquito bites outside that I have got. Besides that, everything was smooth. ||Breakfast was great. I liked how the hotel’s boutique size, did not affect the choices we see in bigger hotels like the InterContinental Hotels. I had the Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausages, Hashbrowns, Waffles and Watermelon. Top that all off with an Orange Juice. We liked the helpful staff who helped us redeem our Free Membership Drinks. The portion of Apple Juice I had was nothing compared to the other portions of free membership drinks from other brands. ||Check Out took 5 minutes. We were escorted to the van that took us the train station for free. Big thanks for Tony Du for driving us there. ||Overall, the hotel may have had a rough check-in, but the service and room was great. This is my first time trying the Hotel Indigo brand, it was founded in my college town of Atlanta, GA, USA. I’m glad an ATL brand found its way here. Thank You Hotel Indigo...
Read moreChose to stay the night here before an early flight, rather than wake up even earlier to cross town in the morning, and all of the IHG upgrades we received meant we may have even saved money at the end of the day! The location is adjacent to the Paradise Walk Mall and The HUB, so plenty of restaurants, shopping, and even IMAX movies are in walking distance. The decor is fun and plays on a rambling gambling theme.||The gym and pool have about 6 individual changing rooms with toilets and showers rather than men’s and women’s, and it also has lockers so you can secure some things even if you can’t check into your room yet.||IHG BONUS UPGRADES:|We received a complimentary afternoon tea in the Craft Lounge between 2-5, which also surprised us by coming with a salad. Fruit, and French fry snack. This cafe ended up being an open and spacious place to work indoors or outside on the patio next to a waterfall, and the WiFi speed is good. Service was lightly staffed in the afternoon and evening- so it’s better if you don’t require a lot of service. We also received complimentary Happy Hour snacks between 5-7pm in the Craft lounge, which ended up being cooked savory meats and veggies and some dim sum as well as some charcuterie and salad. As if we didn’t need more, the day ended with complimentary wine and beer at the rooftop bar, and because we spun the fun little roulette wheel in the hall table on the first floor, we also scored a complimentary signature...
Read moreHotel Indigo Hongqiao really is a gem. From the moment you step on property, you know you're at someplace special. The experience starts with the doormen and front of house staff, who are dressed to the T. The lobby, while small, is charming. Though thoroughly contemporary, the hotel has a Euro-American retro vibe with intentional design choices throughout.
Rooms are well-apportioned and spacious. I enjoyed the included amenities from the bathroom to the closet to the coffee and tea station. Instead of a boring pod coffee machine, the hotel room includes ground coffee and a French press!
Dining options looked enticing but my experience was limited to a welcome drink.
All in all, this is one of the better hotel experiences I've had in a long time. Too bad I was there...
