This hotel is on the grounds of Shanghai Jiao Tang University, and not easy to find if you don't know how to get there. The staff is capable and friendly, and some do speak English, enough to take care of you. The rooms are clean, nicely furnished and the wi-fi works fine. The bathroom is fine, with a decent small shower. They do not provide all toiletries, so make sure you bring your own conditioner. The location is great - not too far from the Metro, so you can get to and from all airports and to the Bund cheaply, and easy walking distance to Tianzifang with lots of restaurants. The only drawback is the breakfast at the 13th floor restaurant - it is extremely spartan, mainly for University staff, with a couple of major entrees each day along with eggs and congee. Read moreStayed here 3 years ago, and now are renovated, look new and comfortable bed, basic amenities are all taken care off, love the towels...only thing let me down, management didn't take firm action against those selfish smokers who smoke heavily in the room with door open, pity those I believe all are medical people who stayed here for conference, how a highly educated in human health personnel could do such things that affected other guest, simply do not care of others. Front desk staffs are friendly, as compare to the last hotel I stayed a year ago, which are very cold and not service orientated. location was great, near to Xintiandi and...
Read moreThe hotel is not easy to find - no any hotel indication outside - it is little bit hidden - 80 m from the main street. I guess it used to be hotel for Chinese but they made renovation and now welcome more and more foreign visitors. The rooms are large and clean. Service is very good. Hotel location is also pretty good especially of you come to Shanghai as a tourist. For business trip better check the location first. Little disadvantage - only single person at the reception speak English but the are very nice and try to be helpful . There is problem to call for taxi and sometimes it is not easy to catch taxi on the street. You must be more familiar with China to know how to manage it....
