As a Radisson VIP-member I cannot recommend this hotel. First of all the executive floor rooms dont seem to be available to international customers, they are apparently only free to book on trip.com. At least I briefly tried booking them for a certain day. While they were available on trip.com, they were not shown on the radisson app, at least not for that one day. Hopefully I was just unlucky with my choice of dates. Second, as a Radisson VIP-member I did not feel like a VIP at all. No recognition of status at check in. No upgrades. I had to literally beg twice to 2 different people at reception for a (standard) room on higher floors, that didnt have anything else than the one at floor 10 but at least better views. No present like fruit etc in my room. People at reception were either very distant to simply unfriendly. More than 10 days after my stay I still have not received the points and/or night credits from the hotel so even that doesnt work. The only thing positive about my stay was the free breakfast. They also have (rare in China) some japanese food like miso soup which I personally like. Also very fresh bread, cheese and proper ham etc so breakfast was very good compared to other hotels. Last but not least the rooms: All of them (I tried 3 during my "upgrade-drama") reaked because of the wet, humid shower curtain. Its disgusting. I took it off and later put it back on again after my stay because it made the whole room smell damp. Bed was ok but no luxury like coffee machines. The executive rooms are apparently off limits for international radisson vip members as updates so cannot comment on those. Oh and on one day the cleaning lady entered my room even though I had the DND sign out, catching me naked on the toilet. This was the worst hotel I stayed in over my 1 month china trip, at least it was cheap and...
Read more4 diamond hotel but actually this was one of my nicest hotels I've stayed at. ||Fast efficient check in and check out. Reception is well staffed and its smooth. ||6 fast elevators is a nice touch, I hate waiting around. ||Executive room is big. Huge comfortable bed, soft pillows, sofa and chairs. I had 5 excellent sleeps. ||Superb shower which gets hot quickly and a good bathtub, but a touch small. ||The toilet is in a separate room and it's high tech heated Japanese style toilet. ||The view from the room is very cool with the inter winding roads. It seemed that there would be traffic noise but actually I didn't hear anything. ||Room has everything you'd expect, decent instant tea&coffee. A pod coffee machine. Slippers, dressing gowns etc all that stuff. ||Shanghai rules mean if you want toothbrush you need to request it specifically which is a little annoying. ||If you want room service a robot brings it to your room which is cool. ||Cleaning was a high standard and I couldn't see any issues. ||Location might be a problem to some. 1 KM from line 2 or line 10. That was fine for me but maybe not to others. ||Tons of F&B around including Lotus Indian restaurant. ||I didn't have breakfast included so no comment on it. ||Cost was 399 per night (no breakfast) Yili Road metro or Loushanguan Road. ||Can get to Hongqiao train station or...
Read moreStayed at this hotel last week and it turned out to be a rather lovely experience. From the moment of the hassle free check in to the check out. This is a really lovely pleasent hotel. All the staff from reception to house keeping are very helpful especially the concierge staff who are so helpful in every way from advising on trips, local shops and mall's, to organising taxi and even advising on what the cost should be. The rooms are large and comfortable with large bathrooms which are supplied with all the toiletries you maty ever need, right down to razors and combs. 2 Nice bars, one in the lobby with music every night and a bar on the top floor with breathtaking views, both with wonderful staff. The hotel is a bit far out of the from the bund and walking street but a 6 euro taxi ride will get you there without any problems. There are 2 large shopping malls within 5 minutes of the hotel and a good few restraunts and bars. There is also lot of other top hotels close by that have good bars and restraunts. Good and drinks are rather expensive but the food is excellent. If I was to return to this wonderful city I would definitely stay at the Golden Tulip again and would recommend it without...
