The sun dipped below the Shanghai skyline, casting a warm glow on the hotel's glass façade. As I stepped into the lobby, the world outside blurred, and I entered a realm of elegance. My room on the 15th floor was my sanctuary. The floor-to-ceiling windows framed Shanghai's urban ballet. Each morning, I'd linger by the window, coffee in hand, watching the city stir. But it wasn't just the view that left an impression. The staff at the reception were the heart of the experience. Her smile was genuine, her local tips invaluable. And then there were the robots, silent couriers delivering towels and late-night snacks. It felt like a glimpse into tomorrow. Breakfast was my daily adventure. As a vegetarian, I navigated the buffet, seeking hidden gems. The chef surprised me with a customized tofu scramble—a thoughtful touch. Outside, Tinshan Road beckoned. Neon signs buzzed, and luxury boutiques flaunted their wares. Across the street, a mall housed toy shops—a treasure trove for my niece. LV and Zara stood side by side, tempting me.||Shanghai's summer heat was relentless, but the receptionist anticipated my needs. Extra water bottles arrived promptly. And the temperature-controlled pool? A refuge. Evenings led me beyond the hotel. An Indian restaurant tucked in an alley offered fragrant curries and crispy dosas. And when I craved a croissant, the bakery across the street obliged. As I settled the bill, I reflected. The room cost was reasonable, but the memories—the glass walls, the caring staff, the robots—were priceless.||||The Hyatt Place Shanghai Tianshan Plaza wasn't just a hotel; it was a chapter in my...
Read moreThe AC in the units is either capped or does not work. After multiple interactions with the front desk to have my AC fixed (it was 99 degrees outside with a heat index of 123) the lowest they could "get it" to was 78 degrees fahrenheit. In 4 hours (two attempts to fix the AC) I was moved to a new room with the expectation that the AC would be better but it was just as poor as the other room. In an effort to cool down I took a shower. Upon leaving the shower I was startled to hear my front door open and some stranger wander into my room while I was naked in my bathroom. They had given my room to another guest as well. I went back to the front desk to fix this situation as well and in doing so, the woman at the front desk inadvertently deactivated my keys. I once again had deal with the front desk to get them reactivated. I returned to my room to nap (as I had taken a redeye to Shanghai the night before) and was kept from sleeping by the front desk who called multiple times (I ignored the first call) to offer a fruit plate as an apology. I politely declined but they insisted on delivering so I had to get out of bed to let two women into my unit to deliver a warm fruit plate. I had other less favorable experiences (the breakfast is good but the restaurant food...
Read moreI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Place during CNY 2019. Every member of staff I talked with were friendly, welcoming, and professional. I received 5-star assistance from Lester, Depp, Jacky, and Kelvin and always felt listened to and taken care of.
The hotel is extremely clean and new feeling, even though it's a year old. The rooms are spacious and we'll thought out. I appreciated the attention to detail - the numerous power outlets in room, the espresso machine, the shower head facing away from you when you first turn on the water (so you don't get a shock of cold water).
The free breakfast in the morning rivals the more expensive hotels and has a wide range of Western and Asian dishes. I always had plenty to eat (even as a vegetarian).
I also loved how close the hotel is to the metro. Just 5 minutes walking and you're there. Super easy. And the metro line you're near is the one that connects you to both airports and to many top tourist locations.
I highly recommend this Hyatt Place, and I look forward to future visits here!
Thank you to the tram - especially Lester, Depp, Jacky, and Kelvin - for such...
