Kingtown Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

Had two nights at Kingtown Hotel. Bed and room very comfortable, hot water plentiful, fridge provided. TV only in Chinese. Wifi connection however was appalling. It rarely connected and if it did, the signal was very weak, at least on the 14th floor. Breakfast, buffet style, also had its problems. Table clearing was very slow, and since there were several tour groups staying, there were rarely any clean tables. The arrangement for the juice and coffee was illogical. In order to get to the one espresso machine, you had to queue up in front of the juices, which meant people darting in and out to get cups, glasses, etc, while others waited up to 20 minutes in the queue for coffee. To add to the chaos, the egg fryer was at the same end as the coffee machine. Definitely needs reorganising. The second morning there was a glass container of coffee which improved things. There were two lifts, but with 23 floors this made for very slow service, creating a problem for travellers needing to meet for their bus tours. First off, if you are re-modelling your bathrooms, that require the use of power tools, then:|a) you should inform people before they book, which you didn't on my booking site.|b) perhaps don't start your power tools work at 7am in the morning.|Ridiculous!|Be sure to have some reading material while you wait an eternity for the elevator.|Don't waste your time being nice to the staff, they will not reciprocate. Staff cannot speak English which makes it difficult when you need something.|We resorted to us pleading with an Chinese tourist to translate for us.|Air conditioner leaked water ever day onto to the floor of the bedroom, even though maintenance came to fix it.|Tv was only Chinese channels, but very limited as we only received 3 channels in our room even though they informed us reception on the tv would be fixed.|Breakfast is quite limited, get in there early for the best of it as they don’t replenish food very quickly.|They cooked fried eggs , but just left them on a plate on the bench so they were always cold.||Room are tired, but house keeping staff were very helpful.||I wouldn’t choose to stay here again, only that this was on a tour was the reason why...
