Our six-night stay at the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was absolutely amazing. From the fantastic service to the comfy rooms and stunning views, it really made our trip special.
The concierge team was brilliant. Every morning, we would check in with them for advice on what to do for the day, and they were so helpful in organising transport for us. They made everything so easy and stress-free, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable.
Our room was super spacious, with these huge floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the Bund, the Huangpu River, and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The view was incredible, and the room itself had this great mix of modern style and cosy comfort. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of sightseeing.
We started every morning with breakfast at the Elements Restaurant, and the food was fantastic. There was a great mix of Western and Asian dishes on offer, so there was something for everyone. It was a really nice way to kick off the day.
We had booked an executive room, which gave us access to the Executive Club Lounge on the 28th floor. This spot was a total bonus – we enjoyed afternoon teas, evening cocktails, and a quiet place to chill or get a bit of work done. Plus, the views from up there were just breathtaking.
The staff were really great too. We had a small issue during our stay, but it was sorted out super quickly by the hotel management. It was clear they really care about making sure their guests are happy.
The hotel also has some shops on-site, which came in handy for picking up a few nice souvenirs without having to go far. Overall, the service at the hotel was friendly and super attentive – it really made a difference.
One thing I’d say could be improved was the interaction with the “Ladies in Red,” who are sort of like the hotel ambassadors. They were always around and very professional, but their style felt a bit formal. It would have been nice if they’d felt a bit more approachable and personal.
All up, the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai was such a great place to stay. The service, the amazing room, and the location made it a trip to remember. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone heading to Shanghai and looking for a...
Read moreKempinski never disappoints us every time we visit there! We stayed at Executive suites this time and our 3days stay was more than we expected! This was special stay so they prepared some special extra courtesy gifts which was very kind of them! Ricky from check-in front desk manager always welcomes us with kind and friendly manner so we were able to start our stay with pleasant feelings this time too. And a lady who did the check-in had nice smiles and enthusiastic attitude so we appreciate her service too. Room service young boys who brought extra gifts are also very polite and had refreshing attitude as well as bell boys who helped us to carry our lots of bags we’re also great! Room: Very comfortable with stunning view with huge window you can see North Bund side as well as river view, both day and night fantastic view gives you pleasant stay! Cleaning stuffs: They’re very friendly and caring. They’re willing to help you with good smiles, for us foreigners it’s so important to have friendly& polite stuffs to enjoy our stay, not sure it’s because of your education you’re giving to them but you have many great stuffs there! Club Lounge: What a lovely arrangement for afternoon tea and happy hour with some variety of food, cakes, fruits and drinks! Breakfast didn’t have so much choice like American style we normally enjoy at the ground floor but it’s enough to enjoy breakfast under the very quiet & clean environment with another stunning view both river and Perl tower wish morning sunshine! At the downstairs there’re always so many people but at the lounge we enjoyed quite breakfast which was a treat for us in this busy city! Also all stuffs who are working there are very kind and polite with willingness to help, we’re impressed with their good attitude which is world wide standards! I think the reason why we had smashing time there is that every single stuff you have there to help us for small or big had a wonderful attitude and service so we’re impressed so much and we can see you train them so well!We fully recommend others and we will definitely come back...
Read moreI enjoyed my spontaneous night stay at the Kempinski. I mainly went there to experience Le Petiti Chef, given to me as an early birthday present. The night stay was decided upon after our experience at LPC. However, the hotel is a bit dusty, especially on the floors with the rooms, as I just couldn’t stop sneezing being there. Shower slippers should be provided as the shower floor could do with a little more cleaning. The finger foods during happy hour and afternoon tea were amazingly delicious but the breakfast food that requires going back to the drawing board. Huge disappointment, so much for being the most important meal of the day. I ordered eggs and pancakes off the menu and the scrambled eggs were very tasteless, it didn’t even taste like eggs. I think there was way too much watery milk in there, and the pancakes were literally two pan sized raspberry cakes. Nothing close to the texture or consistency of an actual pancake. And it was served with honey, where is the maple syrup or pancake syrup? The only good thing at breakfast for me was the latte and cappuccino. And that welcome fruit platter, that needs to be worked upon, hardly a platter for starters and put more thought into the fruit because you guys had better fruits at the tea time and happy hour.Overall, for the price of one night, more attention to detail is needed. Also this whole pre-authorised thing is stupid. It comes like you have to first fork out over 5600 plus just for your night stay. I have stayed at the J hotel and they don’t require this nonsense, if you need a higher deposit just say so.The WiFi sucks and no matter how you turn the taps the water is hot. Turn it to cold it is hot, turn it to hot it is boiling hot. So, the water temperature goes from hot to hottest, not sure why that was the case in our room.Anyways, on the plus side, the bed was comfy, the river view is beautiful and the few staff members I came across were very friendly and just about everyone spoke some level of English, which to me is a must when it’s an...
