Ambiance - just fine but I'm not sure why there's some sort of a smell on their hallway, smells like moist/wet carpet.||||Room - just spacious enough, but I noticed that our room's lamp shade is broken and they just have it taped, and room ceiling paint is chipping off. Room window was dirty. Bathroom was big, but the shower area was really small. Though they have hot/cold water supply :)||||WiFi - available even in hotel room||||Service - we had a not so good experience, coz after we had a whole day tour, we went to our room to really rest only to find out that our key cards have been deactivated without informing us, and front desk was saying that our deposit wasnt enough? How could that have happened when we paid the amount they asked us to pay for deposit when we checked in? So we had to call up our Shanghai-based friend to negotiate with the front desk officer as we have a language barrier already. We were charged more than what we thought we should be paying due to miscommunication during our booking. Anyway..oh by the way, I'm not sure why our room would always have calling cards with pictures of ladies wearing only lingerie, which were inserted under our door. :) just a thought..||||Accessibility - near Jing-an subway station. Around 10-15 mins walk. the hotel is also near the Reel mall where they have a very good foodcourt, many food to choose from and also near City Plaza mall. About the public bus, we never tried it as we dont know where its gonna bring us. And by the way, the bus station in City Plaza is where we had our ride back to Pudong International airport, which costs us only 22RMB per pax, and they leave every 20mins. This bus travelled for 45mins to almost an hour from the bus station to airport proper.||||Maybe as precaution, it is best to ask front desk how much your whole stay would cost you and have it in black and white so as not to get into argument with them, in case they charge you higher upon check-out. ||||Overall, except for the misunderstanding we experienced, I...
Read moreWhile the location of this hotel is excellent, close to Jing'an temple, great restaurants, close to subway I would never stay here again. We arrived to find our reservation lost even though they had confirmed by email a week earlier. When we checked in they couldn't figure out how to use the credit card machine but basically didn't care. Their only solution was for us to pay cash for the full extent of our stay plus additional. We had a 5 night reservation so that was a fair bit of cash when we had countef on using credit card Their lack of concern was appalling and their lack of communication was as well. The room was never cleaned and the worst the bugs in the bathroom and a few in the bedroom. There were dead bugs on the floor after the "maid service". Horrible. If you can afford it go to the Swissotel nearby. Great rates...
Read moreI have stayed here and I will stay again, but I will definitely try to get a room away from the 2nd floor. I stayed on a higher floor last time and was pleasantly surprised…even recommended a friend. The location is incredible and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room itself was dark and had no window…I didn’t know if it would or not. My friend stayed on the 2nd floor and did…luck of the draw I guess. The problem I had this time was the noise. There is access to the outside from the fire escape (convenient to avoid the wait for the elevator) but it was incredibly loud from other guests coming and going throughout the night. I would recommend this place just ask for and lay a little extra for a nicer room. The bathroom was better in the higher floor and just an overall better experience last time. Cannot beat the...
