This is not an international standard service apartment. It's more like a very cheap, local airbnb in a high rise building. The hallways are grimy looking and everything feels sort of old and worn out. I almost had a fire in my room on the last night I was there when my heating pad melted down on the bed. The staff's response was to scream at me that I had to pay RMB800 or they would call the police (no justification of how they arrived at that number, but they insisted I had to pay it immediately). They expressed no concern for my well-being and refused to consider the possibility that their dodgy old electrical system might have caused the issue. They also didn't offer to move me to a new room.||||It was after midnight and I was cold and tired so I asked them if we could just sort it out in the morning. They refused to leave my room and threatened to have me arrested if I didn't pay them immediately. They then called the police, so I was stuck there in my pajamas dealing with these idiots for almost two hours. When the police came, they agreed we should sort it out in the morning and left, so finally got to go to sleep around 2 am. ||||There was no smoke alarm in the room even though there is a stove a kitchen area so it could have been a very dangerous situation if I hadn't noticed the smoke. The staff's handling of the situation was atrocious. When I called the booking agent Agoda, I found that the staff lied to them and told them I caused a fire that burned the wall (there was no fire, only smoke, and the only thing damaged was the bedding which was likely worth about RMB200 tops). ||||I recommend avoiding this place at all costs. There are cheaper, better alternatives in nice locations where the staff actually treat you like a guest rather...
Read moreI had to stay in Shanghai for a month due to work and this was the most affordable service apartment in Jingan and within walking distance to the metro. Location is excellent, surrounded by many restaurants and bars. It is much more quieter with less people compared to People's Square or Xujiahui. And you are near the Former French Concession area and Wulumuqi Road has many quaint old houses and alleyways. Charming and full or history and culture. The downside is the apartment on the outside is old and sad. Corridors are dark and musty and the lifts are ancient. The lobby is unremarkable. This service apartment has four brands - Cosmo, Mosike, Skiline. The most expensive category is the Cosmo line, which I paid for. Check in desks were horrendous, full of clutter and poorly manned. I was given a room filled with cigarette smoke from the previous guest and spent a few days getting rid of it. Was too tired when I arrived to make a fuss but certainly not a welcoming feature. Decor was ok, nothing to shout about but it is clean. But signs of wear and tear is obvious all over the apartment. And it can get quite dark in the apartment because of dark hardwood floors and tinted windows. No cable TV so I was stuck with Chinese channels for the entire month. The one nice thing is laundry is done by the housekeeper and she will also line dry the clothes for you. Very helpful for a business traveler like me. Will I recommend this place again? No. I think for the money I paid - extended last minute at USD170 per night for 18 nights - you could get better options elsewhere...
Read moreLocation is very convenient on line 2 of the metro providing great connectivity to both Pudong and Hongqiao airports.Great place to hang out and within 3 stops of East Nanjing Lu ( shopping, dining, walking around).Once again the location is brilliant and very safe. Never had an ounce of nerves walking in past midnight. Multiple food outlets, both local and fast food.||The room itself is super basic and furniturenot ergonomically designed. Bed corners have been taped in all rooms, obviously multpile guests have been hurt. I was always scared the plastic folding chair would collapse under me. The shower itslef is so tiny one cannot get in and close the door. Hence the whole tiny bathroom gets wet when one showers. ||The staff was courteous but not overly helpful, quite matter of fact. We were there for a week without any change of bed linen. ||Taxi back to Pudong International airport was really far( one hour) and cost 200 RMB. Required if you are traveling with luggage though since there is no direct metro, even though line number is same at # 2. ||The MAGLEV is a fantastic experience and worth every penny spent. you also geta 20% discount on showing your arrival boarding card. You can buy return or one way tickets depending on length of stay.||Shanghai is a very nice city, though vast. Best to use the metro since the roads are always clogged. Must sees are - walk on Bund, visit to Old town next to Yu Garden, Xintiandi to see and be seen with the...
