This is my third time staying here and again it didn't disappoint. Stayed for 5 nights in a 'suite' room (the first level up from the basic bed-sit option).||||Check-in was easy and quick, a RMB200 cash deposit is required during check-in (I lost my receipt but this didn't matter and it was refunded on check-out after signing a form).||||The 'suite' (room) was clean with separate bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and seating area. The air-con worked well and all the basics were provided including plenty of towels, toiletries, tea and coffee (3-in-1 mix) and drinking water. The wi-fi was excellent and fast with good and uninterrupted coverage through the whole stay. ||||The hot water looks like it is provided through an instant (continuous-flow) hot water unit. If you turn the taps past a certain point this switches off the unit and the water runs cold. To get around this, add more cold water rather than turning down the hot.||||Snacks are provided in each room on arrival including a piece of fruit, some instant noodles, a small chocolate bar and iced-tea. While there are plenty of options for food within a few years of the hotel (including restaurants, MacDonalds, bread shops and convenience stores), the snacks on arrival are perfect if you arrive late and just want to relax. ||||The bed is a little on the hard side, but normal for China. Housekeeping staff were lovely. If you don't need your room cleaned on any particular day they are happy to just give you fresh water and leave you in peace. ||||The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need including an excellent fridge, and pots and pans - although with the local food options this probably won't be something you'll use unless you have a fairly long stay. There is a new front-loader washing machine in the kitchen with washing detergent supplied (although I would test the detergent on 'delicates' before using it too heavily!). While the instructions for the washing machine are in Chinese, the electronic control panel lights up the various options of 'wash', 'rinse' and 'spin' (and combinations of those) in pictures, so it is fairly easy to use regardless. A drying rack is provided as is an ironing board and iron (although the latter required an adaptor).||||The hotel is about two minutes from the closest...
Read moreStayed at Ladoll for one month and it was a terrible experience. ||||Actually not the whole building belongs to Ladoll (there are privately-owned apartments), so you will not find the reception on the first, but in a small room on the second floor. Staff is friendly, but not very motivated. You will have to push them again and again to get something done (took them more than a week to provide a second room card and three weeks to change a broken microwave oven).||||Entrance area, lobby and hallways are really shabby. Rooms in the apartment are dirty, moldy and poorly maintained. Furniture and equipment partially broken. At times there is no hot water (or no water at all). Water temperature changes all the time, so water will change from hot to cold and vice versa frequently while taking a shower. WiFi connection is very poor and it takes ages to check your mails or open a website. Self-service washing is possible and recommended. I used the laundry service a couple of times and it usually took longer than expected for them to return the laundry (a couple of days). Sometime I have received laundry that did not belong to me. Do not give any valuable clothes for cleaning as it may be damaged when you receive it (happended to me, however, was compensated with a ridiculous amount that only covered a quarter of the original price)||||Neighbours can be quite noisy and there is (was) a construction site opposite the building which was a source of noise all day (and sometimes at night).||||I do not recommend these service apartments. Really run-down and not...
Read moreLocation is excellent, conveniently located right across the street from Jing-An Temple. It’s one block away from the subway station and surrounded by restaurants and shopping malls. This place also has a full size kitchen as well as in-room laundry, which is a plus for families. Staff here is excellent and very friendly. The hotel manager and house keeping staff are very nice and helpful. The room, however, needs a lot of work and upgrades. The walls are peeling and have lots of water damages. I didn’t see any mold but wouldn’t be surprised if it has mold. It’s definitely not up to code per US standard. Smoking is prohibited, but the hallway is filled with cigarette smoke. Sometimes when I forget to leave the AC on, I walk in and smell cigarette smoke inside the room too. Overall, I think it’s a great place to stay for a few nights to access all the attractions in this part of Shanghai. This place is meant for long term stay; however, I just don’t think it’s healthy to stay for more than just a couple of days due to the condition of...
