If you are the kind of traveller that spends the least amount of time in their hotel room as possible, and only wants a quick feed to begin the day, then this is the hotel for you. It's conveniently located in Jing'an District, next to the temple, and walking distance to two subway lines (2 and 7). There's a wide range of restaurants nearby too, and a convenience store (Family Mart) next door.||||The breakfast buffet is small, but does include wholemeal bread (the Chinese love sweetened white bread), bacon or sausage, coffee (in the smallest cups available) and orange juice. If you ask the chef they will also cook an egg or two (no omelette though). ||||Not many foreigners know about this hotel, which will make you a bit of a celebrity. Consequently, you'll receive more smiles than the average guest.||||The rooms are all on split levels, meaning that your bedroom is over the bathroom. This is only a problem if you have bad knees or are over 6'8". Read moreI spent one night here in late April 2014. The hotel is hard to find as it is off the main road. Most cab drives will be able to find it for you but may drop you off at the curb and you will have to walk 200m or so to the front doors. The lobby was very clean and modern looking. It seemed to be a safe hotel as you had to use your hotel key to access the elevator. The staff was very friendly but had a difficult time locating my reservation. I had to show them the confirmation from cTrip before they found it. In their defense I do not speak any Chinese. The room was clean but very small. The beds were very hard as most beds in China are. The shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. The hotel is walking distance from several shops and restaurants as well as the popular Jing'an Temple and the subway. Nearby there are a couple of Americanized restaurants as well as an Americanized grocery store. There are tons of Chinese restaurants and shops. It is definitely a budget hotel ($50/night) but as I said earlier clean and safe. I left my Osprey Meridian travel bag with no locks at the front desk while I explored the nearby areas after I checked out and it was returned to me safe and sound. If you are looking for a safe, clean and inexpensive hotel in Shanghai this is a...
