Makan Arabic Restaurant — Restaurant in Shanghai

Very disappointing! Was told we would receive free tea with our meal and a discount on food, so I booked a table and yet when we arrived I was told the kitchen was closed. They eventually said they would still provide food as the chef came back, however when they brought the tea, they brought a jug and then charged us for it after we drank it, never once mentioning that only 1 cup was free. Lastly when we complained, the person who booked my table said he would at least arrange the pre-arranged discount, but then allowed the waiter to still charge the full price. He literally tricked me, he said “I’ve applied a discount” and the when he scanned my payment card, it didn’t include the discount. I complained immediately and was ignored! As we were late to catch our train, we had to leave. Would never return here! The food was average and there was no entertainment like they mentioned there would be, in fact the whole place was completely empty...

After having been overcharged for the taxi ride from our hotel we were absolutely delighted to have selected this restaurant to have our dinner. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very attentive and once we had received our meals from the choices we made we couldn’t have been happier. And as a result we even ordered tonight’s dinner and had it delivered to our hotel and it was just as good and the days before. They also ensure that you receive a good amount of food so you won’t be left feeling hungry. Very nice atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Clean and spacious interior with a well stocked bar.

The staff were professional and fast with the owner being from Jordan. Their English was excellent which made ordering fast and easy.

I started with a Turkish coffee which was delicious strong and refreshing with a fresh zing of cardamom coming through. I had the peach and honey hookah.... excellent.

The food and juice was very good. I don't agree with the other posts about high pricing. You couldn't get the same prices in Dubai.
