We hopped across the border into Shenzhen during our business trip around Hong Kong. We wanted to check out a couple of things on the China side in Shenzhen and booked ourselves into the Pengke Ingenious Hotel. There was some confusion with the cab driver as there are a couple of Pengke hotels in the area and my Mandarin/Cantonese is not very good. He got us there anyway.||||Check in was fast and efficient, a couple of the front desk staff spoke some passable English which was good and we managed to understand each other for most of our conversations. The hotel is clean and kept up so it looks newer, our room on the 11th floor was great! Quiet during the night, we didn't hear a thing from the railway or roads below, the air conditioning worked great and good thing too as it was very humid outside. Lots of switches for the lights in the room so that took a bit to figure out. The bathroom was very nice, the microwave an mini fridge are great since we had food with us to keep cool.||||The hotel is well located for our needs and we (eventually) found everything we wanted to find while we were in Shenzhen. We did get lost a couple of times, once at night which was interesting and almost run over by a motorcycle driving on the sidewalk. We did manage to find our way back to the hotel after all of our ventures outside.||||We had supper and breakfast in the Quen Ping restaurant just off the lobby of the hotel. The service did not speak a lot of English and they did not understand a lot of my Chinese but we managed. My wife had the soup of the day and the Chef salad which was huge!! I had the bbq pork with rice and it was very tasty. For breakfast I had the French toast which was fantastic, my wife had the eggs and bacon which was good and we made the mistake of both ordering a fruit salad which were huge plates of fruit (we should have split one) and next time we would ask for no dressing on it kind of like coleslaw dressing.||||Overall we enjoyed our stay in the hotel, the area was a bit different than we were expecting but the hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating, the room was clean and quiet and the food at the restaurant was really good. We would stay here again if we decide to do a Shenzhen...
Read moreThe name is company confusing. The sign outside says Pengke Ingenious Hotel. Trip Advisor says Pengker Deluxe Hotel, Agoda says Pengker Deluxe Collection Hotel. Then there are three other Pengkers in the Luohu area! Worse still Agoda didn't show the address of the hotel, just the name of the road...Heping Road! Imagine dragging two heavy bags for two miles (an idiotic reviewer says 450m) in 30 degree heat!||||2. I regularly stay at the Best Western Felicity Hotel. But this time I thought, and based on other reviewers' notes, wanted to try this hotel! What a disastrous decision! Price is about the same! But the Pengke room is small! Idiotic guests smoke in elevators! Internet is creepily slow! And location is...
Read moreI only stayed here for 1 night, the bed we get is HUGE and very very comfortable to sleep on. ||||However, when it's great for couple, it's not so for non couple as the toilet is being separated with the room with a huge mirror. There's a window blind to close the mirror, which is located OUTSIDE the toilet, which mean well, your roomate can open the window blind when you take your bath :D||||With free internet in the room, and okok free breakfast. However, there's no complimentary drinking water in the room. ||||The location of the hotel is great, 10 minutes walk to the Luohu railway station to cross over to Hong Kong. Also, it's located very near to the MTR station. Dongmen is also on walking distance...
