Had to stay here since my usual hotels were sold out on account of the Technology Expo. Just like any other typical hotel in China. Checked in very late, around midnight. The tariff was higher than usual due to the Expo. Reception staff could not really understand English and it was not very easy communicating with them when I tried asking them how to get to a nearby 7-11.||||The hotel itself has people moving in and about due to a Sauna and a Bar-Disco located within the hotel. While going up to my room, saw some guests stumbling about pretty much in an inebriated state.||||The room was neat but and quite decently sized and the usual amenities were available. I noticed that the hotel was located in a slightly off central location and even a 7-11 was some distance away. After checkout next morning (Sunday) it was difficult to hail down a taxi and had to walk a fair bit before I could find one.||||My local contact had suggested this hotel and it was just fine for...
Read moreThis is probably considered an honest 3.5 star hotel. The hotel is very clean, well kept, bright, nice décor and has a good overall atmosphere. The rooms and common areas are well-appointed with good décor, very nice with modern washrooms. There are no negative aspects. The basic hotel room is moderate sized at 24 m2 which is completely adequate for 2 people, all rooms with large window view, air conditioned. Larger suites are available. All rooms have windows and a nice view. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel. It is located on the desirable main street of Shennan Rd. about 1-2 km east of downtown center shopping (15 min. taxi) or 10 min. taxi to the Hong Kong train and 1/2 hour taxi to the airport. There is a regular and efficient bus service at the doorstep. The locale surrounding neighborhood is quite excellent with a variety of shops and good restaurants - very nice atmosphere. Great value and...
Read moreThe Chang An Hotel in Shenzhen is in decor and everything else a very Chinese Place. We were on the 9th floor (room 912), a fairly small room, facing the street. It was quite noisy in the evening. I am assuming there might be quieter rooms facing the back. The hotel itself and our room was clean. The bed felt like a wooden board with a sheet over it (very hard). The shower unit, which actually was very roomy and the toilet share one sliding door which means you can only close one or the other. All out of glass, if you want privacy that is a no go. The water pressure was great as was the run off of waste water. The toilet was sort of sluggish.||The window could be opened, which to me is always a plus.||Breakfast was a Chinese buffet, which was ok. No coffee. ||We had a organized Chinese lunch at the hotel which actually...
