No soap. Rarely toilet paper. People can open the toilet door when it's locked. Very noisy. Staff and others watch TV at high volume until late. Full of children running around. No backpackers if you're looking for that type of hostel I was robbed 2 blocks from the hostal by a man with a gun and they offered no help and just sent me out in the evening looking for non existent internet cafes. Staff are rude and hard to find when you need them. An old lady shouted at me for knocking on the staff room door. Internet is unreliable and was out for half the day I was meant to check out so i had no internet and had to stay. They cut the power to the rooms air-conditioner during the hottest hours of the day and the rooms have no fans or windows (good luck napping in your sweat). The only plus...
Read moreThere aren't many hostels in Barranquilla, and this one is more of a guest house. We stayed in a private room, which was very small - room for the bed and nothing else. There are a couple of common areas at the front and a very nice little courtyard out back. There are limited bathrooms to share between the dorms and private rooms. There is a good kitchen however, and supermarkets are close. The hostel is well located and the staff (Spanish speaking only) are helpful. ||||One of the main problems was the heat - the rooms had no windows, and were advertised with aircon. However, the air-con is only on from 9:30pm to 7:30am - making sleep ins or using your room during the day unbearable. ||||Prices rise significantly during...

We were only there for one night (we originally planned 3) but felt as if our presence was a constant inconvenience, and we were overstaying our welcome in someone's home (she did things like coming into our room and waking us up at 9am to tell us we need to pay, even though checkout is at 12).
Also, the outside gate is constantly locked, so you need to find someone to let you in and out every time.
The main benefit is the rooms were nice enough and the aircon worked...
