My wife and I arrived at the Hotel Stanford Plaza at around 9:30 in the morning, hours before their check-in time. They let us have a room as soon as one was ready, nonetheless. Likewise, despite arriving late for the breakfast that is included in the price of the room, the waiter had the kitchen fix very nice plates of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and toast for us.||||The room itself was clean, in good repair, and pleasantly decorated and very well air-conditioned. (Green predominates everywhere, so if you have an aversion to the color green, stay somewhere else.) The Internet signal was very strong, but that may have something to do with where on the floor it was located, since my wife specified that Internet access was very important to us. The room's only drawback was its size; it was very small with not much room around the bed. The shower was very large, however, very clean and had lots of hot water.||||The staff speak good to very good English and are happy to do anything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We wanted to order a pizza to be delivered, but weren't sure we could manage it with our very limited, very broken Spanish. The front desk clerk took our order and called it in herself and told us it would be delivered to our room. ||||For where in the city it is located (the North Side), we think the price is reasonable. We were only able to spend one night there, but would have been happy to...
Read moreRequest a room that is NOT on the car wash side of the building (facing the building- that is the left.) Constant car alarms, noise of the power washer, music etc. ||||Breakfast was just ok... nothing like the photos. Cereal but no cold milk, eggs were decent every day- same fruits Papaya, watermelon and pineapple every day.||||Also- the images in the ad of the outside area and hot tub are for suite rooms only- they are NOT public spaces. We expected to be able to sit outside on the roof deck or something but there is no out door public space.||||BUT... The staff was wonderful! Only one young lady spoke any English but they were very willing to help find restaurants, call cabs and help figure out the price per ride, find people who knew people to take a tour etc. They were best part of the stay. They really were the one thing that made it all work. ||||The location is pretty central 7.000- 8.000 pesos per cab ride as pretty much the norm. We walked around the Prado neighborhood and came back... and Barranquilla is an easy day trip to both Cartagena and...
