DON'T COME HERE!
This was by far the worst hotel experience of my life. I'm not sure if the language barrier had anything to do with it or if it was the fact that I'm an American, but this place was not accommodating at all.
FIRST, they lose my reservation for me and my friend, claiming that both my friend and I have to pay extra for staying there. After showing them the confirmation email along with my bank statement, they forced us to spend the night at a less-than-ideal hotel 2 blocks away (with no heat in 15 degree Celsius weather) due to THEIR MISTAKE. It was as if we paid for a downgrade! We were assured by Erik that if we come back the next day, a room would be available for us.
SECOND, So we spend the night at this hostel/dormitory/motel just to come back and be informed AGAIN that we would have to spend ANOTHER night in the motel because there is STILL nothing available. Now I was even more agitated and the woman at the front desk had to go to the back room to speak with her manager. The woman comes back and tells us that the room would be available between 1-2pm.
THIRD, We come back around to the hotel around 4pm from a day of shopping just to find out that the room STILL WASN'T AVAILABLE - 2 hours later and the room isn't ready!! What the heck! So we decided to wait patiently in the lobby for about 20 minutes until the room became available. We travel all the way up to the 3rd floor where the wifi was not working.
FOURTH, We informed the front desk that the wifi doesn't work and she insisted on telling us that it's because the phone was in airplane mode. However, this was never the issue when we stayed at the hostel/motel. Rolling her eyes, she restarted the router and low and behold!! THE WIFI WORKED IN AIRPLANE MODE!
FIFTH, We finally settle in (after calling 3x to get an extra blanket) and 2 hours later the wifi is out again, good thing my friend was paying attention so she just reset it herself and we went to bed.
SIXTH, After breakfast we decided to go to Monserrate. We had a great adventurous day until we come back to the hotel around 4:30pm and was handed a paper stating that there will be no running water from 9pm - 9am. So not only are we NOT INFORMED THE MORNING OF SO THAT WE CAN PLAN OUR DAY ACCORDINGLY, but now we have less than 5 hours to shower, brush our teeth and do whatever it is we need to do before our flight the next morning at 7am. Now what if we came home after 9pm, we would've NEVER received that notice!
SEVENTH, So we kindly take the paper, head upstairs to our room and guess what happened guys?!?!?! NO RUNNING WATER AT 4:30PM!!!!!!!!!!! So I called them AND waited downstairs furiously. At this point I was so done with this place that I was ready to cry and go home. The SAME woman is at the front desk and AGAIN she has to get her manager because she can't do anything for herself. I explained the situation to the manager to the best of my ability in espanol and she was SHOCKED!
EIGHTH, The manager said that she called multiple places and doesn't understand why the water was shut off prematurely. Now I don't know if this happened to the other guests in the hotel, but this was RIDICULOUS!!!!! She tells us that the best she could do was get us BUCKETS OF WATER to bathe in. We were suppose to be going to Zona Rosa that night and we had to get ready in BUCKETS after spending all day touching dirt on top of a mountain.
What an experience. I want my money back for this big inconvenience. It was our first time at that hotel and it will surely...
Read moreTerrible experience on our first 2 days of arrival in Colombia. Somehow they made a mistake and ended up making it our problem: We booked a room months in advance. When we arrived around midnight, after our 16 hour flight, we got told by the 2 young deskclerks that our room was not available, apparently because the previous guest "extended his stay". We were a little bit surprised that they let that happen, but we were told that they would call a cab and let us stay 1 night in a nearby hotel, and we could return the next day for the remaining 2 nights of our stay. We agreed, a bit annoyed, since we just wanted to sleep. The room in the other hotel was of less quality and size than the one we paid for( with a very small 2p bed). The next day we walked some 15 minutes with full backpacks back to the Eco Boutique. This is where it got frustrating. The girl behind the desk told us there was made a mistake. Because of flight issues of the previous guest, he somehow extended his stay for the next two days as well, which meant we were supposed to just "go back to the other hotel", while we were explicitly told it would be for 1 NIGHT ONLY. Not only did they ignore the fact that WE reserved the room and the other guest didnt, but they refused to admit it was a complete screwup to let us move to a crappier hotel, instead of the other guest. So we were supposed to pay full price for less comfort, a lot of hassle and unnecessary going back and forth between hotels. We refused to accept that and asked for a refund. After a long, heated argument and a call with the manager, they gave in, and we booked another hotel on the spot, got our 2 remaining days refunded + a paid cab ride to the other hotel. Tip for the hotel: fix your standard policy on reservations (reserved means reserved!), and don't expect paying guests to simply accept your...
Read moreAfter reading some other reviews here: IT'S A SCAM, simply. Colombian hotels don't seem to grasp either the concept of reservation nor boutique. Check these actual photos and compare to official, listed pictures. Also, they will take your reservations to a supposedly 4 stars unit but keep the room available to others anyway, sending you to another, half-at-best-star building, without further notice or discount. Also, you'll have to go there at your own expense or walking and carrying your own luggage (it's only some couple blocks away, down the road and turning at this light there and then the corner etc, they will tell you at reception). Really nice if you're up to some on-foot city tour right away from airport! By the way, they won't let you cancel your reservation and will try to charge the original room, even if they don't provide said room and send you to the downgraded one. On the up side, the shower doesn't have curtains or any sort of separation, so you end up with a cute micro lagoon and waterfall in your restroom after cleaning yourself up. Maybe that's the boutique aspect of it? Oh, is the walking and the little lake the Eco thing?! I got it now... Good luck...
