Manage your expectations on this one. Family and I bought the tickets directly from La Bodeguita kiosks instead of the street vendors. We heard from locals that some street vendors might overbook a boat and you are left with no ride to your destination. Cocotera beach is privately owned and small, we booked the beach day (no motel) that included the boat rides, non alcoholic welcome drink and lunch which included vegetarian, chicken, and fish options (opt in for coconut rice, delicious). About $60 usd/person. It’s a SMALL white sand beach and the water is very clear, there are some patches that are nice to swim in but there are more algae and dead corals in the shallow water. Beware the corals can be sharp and some people wear rubber shoes. The beach has one dock and you will be sharing the beach with beach hopping tourist boats that dock every hour or so. So sometimes the beach will be crowded and then empty. The piña coladas from the canoe vendors are amazing, and if you bargain maybe you can get them down to 40,000 pesos. They also catch fresh lobster they can cook for you on the spot. Mind the wind. Sometimes the trip might be shorter in length than what you pay for. Boat captains like to leave early around 2:30pm on windy conditions. If you have not been blessed with a cushioned behind you will definitely feel the impact when the boat is...

Honestly, the WORST hotel we have stayed in the whole of Latin America. I would say in the world, but I remember a terror night in Agra, India. But we're looking at similar ratings

First of all, by saying they are an eco lodge, they think they can get away with anything.

Here are the facts:

Electricity only from 6pm to 1.30am when electricity is on, we realize that there is NO lights in the main room. Literally, no light bulbs. After 30 min, they change it only to realize that it's not the bulbs, it's the electricity setup in the room. The room has been closed for the whole day so when we get in, its a sauna. but then if you open the windows mosquitos strom in so we chose to sleep at 35 degrees. we thought a shower would be refreshing, remember eco-lodge, so no hot water. When we are ready, there is NO running water. It sounds like one of these bad jokes where things keep getting worse and worse.

I have to say that the owner (or manager, not clear) took personally the issues and tried to resolve them. Of course at Colombia speed.

Honestly, a third world infrastructure at price of first world.

Please do yourself a favor and come for a nice swim and coconut drink, but get out...

I will give 5/5 because good reasons, the place is absolutely beautiful, the staff is friendly and all local ( I love when a place like this support local people, because you can see how unfair is the life in the island), the food they serve is a little bit expensive but is very good, you can always walk 5 or 10 minutes to the town and buy things like tuna and eggs...etc in the local store or the restaurant if you don’t want to spend 25kCOP on a meal (is worth it) Or bring your own stuff if you have a special diet.

the ladies are very helpful, me and my boyfriend got a tent but it was too breezy and they gave us a room and didn’t charge us anything for it.

They can actually call a boat for you to go back to Cartagena but is not part of the hotel service so is more like a favor and they change little bit more for it, so I recommend you to have your ticket back and not get it there if you don’t want to pay 10k more.

The hotel works with solar energy, so there is energy all the time, also running water.

The place has a beautiful private beach and plenty room to relax and enjoy the island. IS...

Visited on a day trip; not an overnight guest. Had lunch here: fried fish with coconut rice and plantains. It was served with cane sugar juice. The fish was flavourful and delicious! The cane juice was gross, so I tossed it and bought a coconut water instead. They chopped the coconut in front of me and it was fresh! Really good 😊 The beach was great! I went for a swim pretty far out and stayed for an extended time. However, there was a large stone upon entering that I missed and cut my foot. Be careful. The bar on the beach is a simple shack/hut without running water. The server had two buckets of water: one with soap and one for rinsing. She washed the blender after each use. Only one person inside, so service is slow. Drink prices were crazy high compared to restaurants in Centro/Getsemani. 40,000 COP for Pina colada (in a glass) and 50k if you want the cut-out pineapple. Overall, I would only recommend going here for a day, but not to stay overnight. The grounds had stray dogs walking around and just had a pedestrian feel/vibe that doesn’t feel inviting.
