I travel for about half the year and, as a result, have probably slept on hundreds of different mattresses. I have stayed in hotels in rural Kenya and tiny Airbnb’s in New York but I have never encountered a mattress as bad as the one at Hotel Chicamocha. I have, no exaggeration, slept on carpeted floors that were more comfortable.
In addition to this, the room was incredibly noisy. At first I thought this was the ancient and massive “mini” fridge next to the bed so I unplugged that but the noise persisted, a loud humming sound. I went into the hallway and realized that was just what the whole tenth floor sounded like. The automatic lights outside would come on periodically and shine through the curtains and any time someone paved the elevator on any floor, you could hear it even though my room was nowhere near the elevator.
The food in the restaurant was overpriced and the menu was obviously dated. I would have saved money and had a much better meal by just calling a Rappi delivery.
The pro’s to the room were that the shower was recently renovated and the water ran hot. Unfortunately the bathroom door would hit the counter so you couldn’t actually stand in front of the sink and there was a large gap between the two panes of glass in the shower that would let water through. The Air Conditioning also ran cold and was not very noisy.
The front desk staff (besides the kind and helpful person who checked me in) seemed to not really like their job and were quite indifferent all around.
Needless to say, I would not recommend the Chicamoca. There are worse places to stay in Bucaramanga but at least those places don’t call...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for a total of 8 days and I must said that I was very much disappointed for multiple reasons. Breakfast is always the same every single day. The sauna is not working due to COVID but if you want to use it is 30 mil pesos. Which makes no sense. It used to be free. Rooms are clean and bed are comfortable. The hotel’s food really just OK. I had a lemonade and I got sick the last day. The staff is nice except for a guy that works at night at the lobby. He is rude. I would give 3 stars at this hotels but it is located in a very unsafe area of the city. Across the hotel there a lot of clubs but there are also a lot of criminal, I also got rob in from of the hotel around 8 pm and the hotel has no security at the lobby. I will not safe a few dollars next time and I will stayed in another hotel that are more safe. I think the best choice in Bucaramanga is Holiday inn simply because the mall is there within the hotel. bars, shops and restaurants are at the mall. Stayed there last vacation but I tried to safe a few bucks and it did...
Read moreThis hotel is clean with free wifi and simple breakfast. I did not like, that there are no windows at all to open in the rooms, for me a important matter for future bookings. I tried to change to a room with windows to open, but front desk informed that there are none.|The shower has a poor water pressure.|Rooms have air condition. Beds and pillows OK.|The business Center is absolutely poor. No real work tables, one computer and each movement has to be paid, in other hotels usually you do not even pay for using the computer or printing some pages. The business Center has nothing to sit and work together with colleagues. Almost no plugs available in business Center. We went to the bar area to work together. The food and bar area around the pools is a nice place to sit in the evening.|The breakfast is OK, but poor if you try to find kind of low carb food.|The hotel staff is very nice and helpful.|The place is not bad, but very simple or the price you pay.|It seems like the hotel has a nice SPA offer, but as I was on business trip I had no...
