Dear TripAdvisor Member,||||I visited the Hostería Matamundo last month for lunch by the pool with two friends. While food was good, it was very depressing to see close to us an old bird cage all rusted and dirty, with a sad parrot and two tropical yellow birds trapped inside with no food or clean water. While we were eating, a cute but undernourished black puppy approached our table, clearly searching for food. It was very sad to see the puppy was a female with an infected vagina, from where there was pus dropping out as she walked. I was disgusted and talked to our waiter about it. Read moreI had a planned stop in Neiva during my 4,320km road trip from my home in Medellin to south coast of Ecuador and back so I was very travel weary but so glad this hotel was like an oasis in the middle of the desert for me, had a great night sleep in their comfortable and high quality pillows and bed comforters, relatively quiet despite hearing a bit of music from the disco bar in the joining property at the rear, great customer service and clean rooms and ground. Love the fact that you can park at no charge right in the courtyard in a very safe and secure area.||||A great location as I was headed north from the San Miguel border crossing in Ecuador and made my visit to the Tatacoa desert, just an hour or so north of Neiva, a great place to lay my head...
Read moreMy family and I stayed there on Christmas and New Year 2018. There were 8 of us. We rented two rooms. We had nothing but fun. The room were spacious and clean. The staff was really friendly. The place is lovely. It is a former Hacienda, so it hast a lot of character. The pool is covered by two mango and one "mamoncillo" trees. The iguanas come down the trees while you are playing at the pool. It was a really great place. I will come back to it in my next visit.|||| DO NOT WALK FROM THE HOTEL TO THE TOWN. You will be safe in the hotel though (you will see the combination of cameras and dogs they use to keep...
