This place is in the virtually tourist free typical Colombian town of Filandia. The hotel is called Hostal Tibouchina and it verges on the cusp of being a boutique hotel. The en-suite arrangements are a bit bizarre but otherwise it is great value at COP$60,000 per night for the two of us including breakfast. The hotel occupies one corner of the town square (dedicated, as always, to Simón Bolivar), the architecture is colonial and here it is pretty much as it would have been in the early 20th century. All of the buildings are nicely painted in bright colours. We are so chuffed with the place that we book a further three days to start at the end of our trip into the Valle de Cocora and Salento. The town square houses a number of small cabaña eateries selling empanadas, arepas, chorizo etc., as well as obleas and other sweet stuff. The hotel is run by a pair of Colombian twins.
