David at reception does an amazing job at making you feel welcome. I asked for an early check in, which he tried to accommodate. He gave me his WhatsApp, send me a map of Filandia and gave me an introduction of the hot water showers plus some other bits of useful information.
The hostel is small, only four private rooms plus one (?) dormitory. I stayed in a private room. Only negative things about those rooms are the noise from reception, which is understandable, and the lack of windows. There are smart tvs in the rooms.
The whole place seems to have been renovated in the last few years, and both the rooms, reception, bathrooms and kitchen are in a contemporary style. It is very clean. There is a small common room plus a balcony with a partial view of the landscape. I saw eagles. And think I also heard some howler monkeys in the distance in the evening.
This hostel does not have complimentary coffee or towels. Neither is an issue, but just useful information for a fellow traveler. The WiFi is good, and David makes sure you have access at the moment you check-in.
I have already recommended this hostel to a friend. I rate...
Read moreDaniel who works here is AMAZING! Friendly, polite, you can ask him anything. Hostel looks as beautiful as you can imagine, a balcony where you can watch the sunset (weather permitting), lounge with comfy sofa to watch Netflix and chill of course, PS4, mini pool table/ping pong/foosball/air hockey, high chairs to work on your laptop (lack of power points though).
Kitchen - absolutely amazing. New, clean, strong clean burner. Sandwich maker, & blender to make your mojitos! Would love to have a microwave in there!
Dorms - hands down one of the best I’ve ever slept in. Really private with curtains, led lights, power point, comfy mattress and pillow, fluffy doona. I was in heaven.
We were able to hang out even after check out as we had to get a late bus to Armenia onwards to bogota. Thank you Daniel for your kindness letting us feel at home.
Hostel is a minimalist beaut❤️

Read moreBeautiful classy hostel! David Jaramillo , the owner is so kind and caring with this wonderful, big laugh that makes you happy whenever you hear it. The hostel is beautifully maintained with care given to every detail and touch of decor. Everything is kept immaculately clean. The rooms are spacious and have a large screen TV. The beds and pillows are super comfortable. The wide open hallway outside the rooms has small tables and chairs perfect for eating or reading at. The shared bathroom is a nice size with a fabulous big shower (big sun-shower shower head) and super hot water. There is a big well stocked kitchen for cooking, an eating nook and nice deck out back. Up stairs where the dorm room is, there is a large area to chill and a great place to watch the sunset through two long walls of windows. The location is perfect, one block from the Central Park where all the activity happens. Highly recommend a stay at this hostel! We extended two extra nights as it is a really...
