HOTEL NOMADIC DESIGN — Hotel in Saint Andrew

I was privileged enough to be the very first guest at Design Hostel! I contacted them to discuss details about my arrival and from the moment we spoke to when I was leaving San Andres the experience and service was top notch. I was traveling alone and really needed a comfortable central place with a strong wifi connection. Like a STRONG connection. Wifi is scarce on the island and the connection is terrible in general. Since I was working remotely this was very important. I ran into no issues and most of my day is filled with Zoom Calls. So if your working at the same time, this is your place

Location, you can’t get anymore central than this. You can walk to all the great duty free shops (pick up some perfume before you leave!), walk to the boats that take you to Johnny Cay, gold cart rentals, restaurants, beauty services everything is so close.

I stayed in the private suite which was absolutely beautiful, cool art, clean and spacious.

From when I walked in, everyone was so friendly and eager to welcome me. Since it had just opened I had a few requests and I my jaw was on the floor that when I left for the day by the time I came back to my room all of the requests were done. Seriously crazy. Air conditioning in the room which is needed for San Andres! Slept super comfortably.

Francisco & Nilsen were very attentive and provided me with recommendations of things to do on the island. Restaurants, activities etc. Even the workers that were off shift one night helped me go find a iPhone cord cause mine was water damaged and I had to fly the next day. Recientemente tuve una experiencia extremadamente angustiante en este hotel en San Andrés. Durante nuestra estancia, una rata entró en nuestra habitación a través de una puerta mal sellada y se dirigió al baño. Cuando informé de esto a la recepción, la empleada se mostró indiferente y apenas hizo esfuerzo por solucionar el problema. Nos informó que no podían hacer nada y sugirió que empacáramos y nos fuéramos si no estábamos contentos.

A las 9 PM, mi madre anciana y yo tuvimos que sentarnos a buscar alojamientos alternativos. Durante este tiempo, la rata reapareció junto a nuestras camas, confirmando que la habitación no era sanitaria ni segura. Luego tuvimos que caminar por las calles de San Andrés por la noche en busca de otro hotel, lo cual fue increíblemente estresante y peligroso.

A pesar de informar al hotel sobre este problema grave, se negaron a compensarnos por nuestra estancia. La falta de empatía y profesionalismo del personal fue indignante. Aunque el dueño inicialmente se comunicó para ofrecer una compensación, luego retractaron la oferta, dejándonos sin ninguna resolución.

Esta experiencia fue completamente inaceptable. Los estándares de higiene y seguridad en este hotel son muy deficientes, y la actitud despectiva del personal solo empeoró la situación. Recomiendo encarecidamente no hospedarse aqui hasta que aborden estos problemas críticos y mejoren su servicio al cliente.

I recently had an extremely distressing stay at this hotel in San Andres. During our stay, a rat entered our room through an unsealed door and went into the bathroom. When I reported this to the front desk, the staff member was indifferent and made minimal effort to address the issue. She informed us that there was nothing they could do and suggested that we pack up and leave if we were unhappy.

At 9 PM, my elderly mother and I had to sit down and search for alternative accommodations. During this time, the rat reappeared next to our beds, confirming that the room was indeed unsanitary and unsafe. We were then forced to walk the streets of San Andres at night in search of another hotel, which was incredibly stressful and dangerous.

Despite informing the hotel about this serious issue, they refused to compensate us for our stay. The lack of empathy and unprofessionalism displayed by the staff was appalling. Although the owner initially reached out to offer compensation, they later retracted the offer, leaving us without any resolution.

This experience was completely unacceptable. The hygiene and safety standards at this hotel are severely lacking, and the dismissive attitude of the staff only exacerbated the situation. I strongly advise against staying here until they address these critical issues and improve their...

Totally unworthy the high price we paid for a private room here! Really disappointing. It’s been 2 days we are staying without warm water and they always say that they are waiting for somebody to come and fix it. But that never happens. The private room we booked is spacious but the sink in the bathroom was not clean and the room is facing a street with just one glass entry door which has 0 noise isolation. furthermore, there is a constant noise from the little jacuzzi outside which we can’t stop. make sure you have prepared the best earplugs to be able to sleep here. The personnel doesn’t speak English neither and doesn’t care much to provide a good service. We couldn’t even speak to the manager when we wanted to complain and ask for a discount because of the lack of hot water. There is a common kitchen that has never been cleaned and smells terribly.
