Anam is my our favorite thing about Santa Teresa...||||My family of four (including two young daughters) came to Santa Teresa to surf, and the surfing was great. However, there are lots of great places to surf. My favorite thing about our nearly two-week trip here was the atmosphere of the Anam Jungle retreat. I would return to Santa Teresa just to spend time there.||||The main strip of Santa Teresa is a dusty street running parallel to the beach. Anam is 2-minute walk uphill from the main strip and maybe a 5-minute walk from the beach informally known as “La Lora,” and about a 7-minute walk from the supermarket. That 2-minute walk means that you are away from the dust and the bustle. There are lots of good informal restaurants within walking distance.||||Anam consists of 5 apartments overlooking a pool with lush foliage around it. You will likely see iguanas, cane toads and a couple monkeys right around the pool, especially in the early morning. The apartments are modest, full of light, feel very beachy, have very powerful air conditioning, and are are kept immaculately clean. New towels, of which you will need many, seem to appear out of nowhere. The rooms look onto the lush pool area. Although there are only 5 apartments (and the owners live in one of them), there is a delightful little cafe right by the pool which is essentially just for Anam’s guests. My daughters absolutely loved the pancakes.||||However, my favorite thing about Anam is the group of polyglot Sardinian friends who run the place. Two of them bought the property about 2-3 years ago and spruced it up, especially improving the plantings. They were not looking to make money: they just wanted to be near surfing, and generally to live a relaxing life near the beach, and they try to help their guests do the same. They are extremely friendly and fun, absolutely love children and are wonderful cooks. They are always around and can direct you to fun activities, restaurants, etc. We just left today, and my daughters (ages 7 and 10) are begging us to bring them back as soon as possible. We can’t...
Read moreOur party of 2 couples stayed in the largest two bed apartment. Anam is not a fancy place but good value for money for four people and the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful.||Our apartment had two double bedrooms with an open plan kitchen / sitting area. Beds were not the best but ok and most importantly both bedrooms had air con.|| The kitchen had a full size stovetop and a microwave so we could prepare simple meals. ||The bathroom was large with a big curtained shower stall. Water wasn't that hot but sufficient when outside temperatures are 33 degrees and quite humid. ||One issue for us, however, as two couples was the lack of mirrors as there was only one in the whole apartment which was in the bathroom.||The external terrace to the apartment was good with wooden dining table and bench seating, some wooden chairs and a hammock.||The grounds of the hotel are not big (there are only 5 apartments) but attractive and there is nice pool with sun loungers and deck chairs. Howler monkeys and iguanas are frequent visitors.||The owners have a basic breakfast and lunch menu you can order from the day before if you want.||We really enjoyed the casual and informal ambience at Aman and the fact that it was peaceful, located just off the main Santa Teresa thoroughfare, but only 5 mins walk to the beach and several good...
Read moreWe booked a month stay through airbnb with Elisa. Since it was rainy season, we asked if there was any nearby construction to which we were assured there was none. We spoke with Franco who was very kind and showed us the property. It looked quiet in the surrounding area. Shortly after we arrived to see our room, the owner of Anam and Elisa for some reason decided to cancel our reservation without informing us. When I asked why, they said "it is better for us." I have never had a host cancel through airbnb without communication, and most definitely wouldn't recommend Anam for a professional or...
