Just finished a week at Casa Azul and loved it!!|||| The location is perfect! Right on the beach directly in front of the playa Carmen surf break. For surfers, this spot is one of the only beach front hotels with the surf break literally right outside the gate. You can see the waves from your front porch! It’s also super close to yummy restaurants, supermarkets, bank, surf rentals and shops. Convenient location and surprisingly very quiet! ||||We stayed in the ocean view room and it was perfect. Basic accommodation, air conditioning, fan and your own hammock. We enjoyed sitting on our front porch every morning drinking coffee and watching the surf. ||||There is a basic shared kitchen with a large fridge, French press, toaster and cups, bowls, plates, utensils etc. This worked out great for making simple breakfasts and lunch. ||||The pool is great, there are lounge chairs to relax in and even a wonderful shaded deck for cooling off or doing yoga! The property is huge and it’s feels spacious. There is a little beach road in front of the hotel where people come to park when they are surfing and enjoying the beach. So expect a little noise from atvs & cars. But honestly not really a problem. The property feels very safe and there is a security guard at night. ||||Richard was great!! His communication over email was awesome and he even helped to coordinate my airport taxi. He was a wonderful host! Friendly, super helpful and made sure we had everything to make our stay enjoyable! ||||It’s not a luxury resort. It’s clean, basic and one of the best locations to the beach! Perfect for families, couples, surfers and solo travellers. I would highly recommend. Hope to...
Read moreBEWARE OF RICHARD: The entire family booked rooms in Richard's hotel for a wedding. We were required to pay $250 deposit BY CHECK to reserve our room. My husband and I very sadly had to cancel our attendance to the wedding and the room due to an unexpected cancer diagosis. My husband will be undergoing treatment during the month of the wedding and unable to fly. We cancelled the room as soon as we found out, a full month before the reservation date. Richard not only refused to refund our $250; he was exceedingly rude. This, despite the fact that we explained our unfortunate situation and despite the fact that many of the other rooms were booked by family members attending the wedding. By the way, this was not a wedding package of rooms or any kind of discount. Shame, shame,...
Read moreWe finished the 2nd half of our very active Costa Rica trip at Hotel Casa Azul. A group of 10, we fit in the main house and additional Casita very well. We cooked wonderful meals, surfed right outside the gate, watched the sunset, did yoga in the ranchero, snoozed in hammocks, and lounged in the pool. ||||Santa Teresa is a busy little surf town on a dusty street with lots of restaurants, stores, and grocers. But the walk/drive down to Hotel Casa Azul is quiet and you don't even know how close you are to all the conveniences of town. ||||Richard was easy to communicate with and has amazing art and thoughtful touches throughout this property. ||||We...
