Pros: good location, relatively cheap for the area (still expensive compared to other cities), beautiful outside infrastructure and super clean. You also have access to a shared balcony. Bathroom in the room was clean, no issue here.
Neutral: The check in experience was ok, they just showed us the room but nothing else. We didn't know where to get water or if a fridge was available to us or what services were offered.
Cons: the room we got looked like a prison cell. No window, no outside ventilation, no bed side table or reading light. The door lock was very loose and not very secure (cheap schlage doorknob lock). The bed was also not comfortable, you can feel the springs. The photos attached are the only "windows" in the room. One set is closed shut and the other one gives a view into a closed storage room.
We didn't try the restaurant after reading some other reviews here.
We stayed at a lot of other inexpensive cabinas all over Costa Rica and these are the worst rooms we have seen yet, unfortunately. We really wish we could rate this place higher but according to our experience it is not worth the price...
Read moreHotel La Cascada is located directly next to the waterfall walk - the reason many people visit Montezuma. A short walk town is perfect because we avoided the noise of town but had the convenience of being close. Our room was basic but comfortable. Hot water, WiFi, clean, and quiet. The hotel was not busy, and I could imagine that noise may be an issue during busy times. The very large wood decks are a more logical gathering place for spending time with friends, watching the wildlife, and listening to the ocean. The howler monkeys next door were around in the morning! The A/C worked well, but the cool nights made opening the windows perfect. Montezuma is a cute small town that feels safe and offers multiple restaurants and shops. Definitely worth a trip. The public bus provides transport, as well as a water taxi. ||WiFi did not work well from the deck and some aspects of the room were a bit rustic (naked lightbulbs, single electrical outlet, shower held a hit of water) but none were a big deal I will definitely...
Read moreA beautiful stay in paradise. Pura Vida!
Their usually check in is 9pm. They accommodated us and let us come check in at 11. When we got there we were welcomed by a friendly face and he took us straight to our room. Was such a relief as our other hotel canceled bc they ran out of rooms. They took us on with such a late booking with no issues and open arms. Breakfast was also included which was very tasty and made to order. The staff was even nice enough to let us use the bathroom even after we were already checked out. We went hiking nearby and bumped into a hotel staff member and he was kind enough to let us use the bathroom. The views are beautiful from the hotel as well. The hotel is also right next to Montezuma Waterfalls which is an amazing...
