Another of those inevitable of Montezuma, what is there to say, service and atmosphere is 10/10, the lighting, the location, the staff, all is perfect in that domain, now food, and this is one of the place where they shine, portion are more than acceptable (worth noting the photo I posted as three squid, normal plate comes with two, it's an extra I ask for as they are sooooo good), also worth noting the delicious salad they serve before you meal, that dressing is exquisite, and that delicious bread, seriously, the cuisine restaurant of Montezuma, enjoy your stay, there is enough in this small village to satisfy your taste buds and this is definitely one of them

Cocolores IS on the beach. The tables sit in a coconut grove steps from the surf. We were warmly greeted and chose a table close to the waves. We started with the ceviche which should not be missed. It was white marlin with just the right amount of garlic and olive oil to force you to dredge the bread through when the ceviche was done. Oh yes the bread. It’s made in house and is worth the trip by itself. For entrees we had the curry and coconut fish and the curry and banana fish. Both came in rich and savory curry sauces which complimented the mahimahi perfectly. This is a not to be missed stop if you visit Montezuma.

This seaside shack serves an incredible seafood pasta. We tried the carbonara, too. It was equally flawless. Al dente with perfectly pitched flavours. I don't know who is in the kitchen, but they deserve a hug for making my life just a little bit better. The restaurant itself really leans into that beach-shack vibe. At night, the mishmash of wood and plastic furniture and coloured lights give it a real authentic feel, but in the stark afternoon sun it feels like a bit of a hygiene risk. Just keep reminding yourself why you are there. THE AMAZING FOOD.

This rate is for the restaurant, not the accommodation. We came on recommendation in Lonely Planet guide. Ordered ceviche, house salad, seafood soup, fish fajitas and grilled fish with mashed potatoes. Be careful, ceviche are ‘mediterranean style’. That means it’s soused in the oil, savoured by garlic. It’s not written in the menu and staff didn’t inform us while ordering. We were asked if we like the dish, we said that we expected ceviche as we know, and that we actually don’t like this. They returned it with apologies. Appreciate profesional treatment from the staff. House salad would be good, if it doesn’t swim in herb mayonnaise. This “dressing” kills all the flavoures of remaining content. We didn’t finish. The bread attached is classic whole grain toast bread. Seafood soup ok, not special. Fish fajitas and grilled fish were ordinary. Would not recommend for the low quality/price ratio. We’ve visited several restaurants in Montezuma which offers way better experience in same price category. One star up for the...

Rewriting my review.

Terrible service. Prices unclear.

Service: We asked the waiter if the beer was still 1000, as we had gone here before. He confirmed. When the check arrived, the beer was being charged at 1500 each one. I asked the manager why and he yelled at us and told us we "didn't spend enough money on his business". I tried to dialog with him, telling him we were returning customers and the beer used to be 1000 and we even asked the waiter. He continued yelling at us and kicked us out of the restaurant.

You can check his attitude on the responses he leaves to justified bad reviews.

Food: not bad, not great. Definitely not worth what they charge.

Atmosphere: The place is alright although dark and full of mosquitoes. There are also cats that roam between the tables and even get on top of the furniture. Not...

A hidden gem tucked away in front of Montezuma beach, just a minutes walk away from the main shops and strip. We dined there for the evening and had a lovely experience. The server was attentive and showed care for what he was serving and making. The music and ambience was perfect with two cute cats lounging about the outdoor restaurant, seemingly the real owners of the place. They were friendly but watch out for the tabby one (Floyd) as he got a bit grumpy after too many stokes! The fajitas and the seafood pasta were both delicious!! Both very generous portions but no problem as it was so tasty! Definitely would recommend and I have a feeling it would be more scenic and prettier in the day due to the view of the white sand beach....
