After coming to Montezuma for my 5th time, because for me it's the best place to visit in Costa Rica, I've now found the best place to stay. None of the many other hotels I've stayed at compare in value as much as El Jardin. You get cozy rooms and wood crafted cabins that nestle in the beautiful flower and fruit gardens, all the way to the top of the hill, which offers cabins with great ocean views. This place is worthy of many photos.. And yes, you will hear the ocean waves at night to lull you to sleep... Not so much during the day, because you will be delighted by the many calls of the natural birds in this part of Costa Rica. The birds begin just before sunrise and fade at sunset... You may often hear the monkeys who come around every now and then. There is nothing like waking up to the various sounds of the jungle, while you lie in a comfortable bed and stare out the window at gorgeous views of this beautiful property. Off the property, there is sometimes loud atv revving sounds and some large truck sounds that start a little after 7am..so if you're the type to stay up late and sleep in, bring some earplugs and you'll be 'pura vida'. I never felt it to be a problem during my stay. You'll want to wake up early anyways, because El Jardin offers the best central location... You're steps away from Montezuma "downtown", with stores, restaurants, vehicle rentals, tours and close access to the most stunning beaches, the waterfall, cabo blanco park and so much more. The management were AmAzInG friendly hosts, as I remembered them from my last trip here. There was even a friendly gentleman who provided security on the property at night, making you feel your belongings were safe in your rooms while out on the buzzing little town El Jardin arranged a scooter for me to rent, that was made available through a separate company. The scooter was nice to get away and explore other cool places near by. Even more impressive about this hotel, is its stunning, two leveled pool, the bottom pool is larger and the top one is smaller with jacuzzi jets.. So nice! The rooms and cabins were cleaned daily, by very friendly and respectful staff, who's warm smiles made me feel relaxed and completely at home. I felt they were well deserved :) You notice right away that it's important to El Jardin to asure their guests have a beautiful vacation, as they did mine. Trust me, you won't regret staying at, what is the honesty the best choice in Montezuma... Thank you El Jardin for making another great memory, my home away from...
Read moreNow let me start by saying this hotel isn't perfect, it has a very steep drive, the room was fairly basic and the air con could do with a bit of work - however, the pricing certainly matched and this place had some great features too.||Staff - the owner (I believe) who also worked on reception was a very friendly guy and was very helpful if you had any questions or needed anything. They provided biscuits, bananas and water in reception even though it was not a bed a breakfast. There's no safety deposit boxes in the room but they will keep any valuables locked away in reception and they seemed very honest and obliging if you needed to get anything from it or add to it.||Rooms - Although the room was basic, it's pleasant enough, clean and has all you need. It had a nice area outside with wooden sun beds and a hammock for lazing around on. Very nice to chill out early evening before heading the very short walk to the shops for food/drinks etc||Pools - 2 pools close together (one's just a higher level) a few steps up. Nice seat area in one and a slight jacuzzi, not very strong but again pleasant enough. The grounds are beautifully kept and are a major plus to the hotel.||Location - Excellent location as right next to the shops/bars and restaurants but I'm guessing because our room was up a steep driveway, noise didn't really seem an issue. ||A nice stay all in all and a location (Montezuma) and a hotel we'd consider staying in again...
Read moreHelpful staff, good price, clean. Budget price for private room and bathroom for solo traveller with view Ocean and monkeys. super helpful and friendly staff, thanks Gabriel for helping being friendly and helpful in booking tours, massages, restaurants. Advised me to check on weather of the day before booking Isla Tortuga tour, warn me on weather for waterfall hike, even made me a song (with AI)! Truly vibing the friendly and chill energy of CR. Pool is fine. good for a quick dop after a hot day. Room with AC is fine but not great water pressure or warm, does not bother me for the weather, but would be perfect once it has been fixed. Location is right by everything in the small town - beaches (3mins walk), tours operators, massage, good, supermarket, waterfall (15mins walk to trailhead). Only thing is the last stretch by the hostel is right on the main road with no much street light or sidewalks. saw how long monkeys right outside my room...
